Have you ever heard of anonymous search engines? Does it make you curious to know how it works and better yet how you can have a great browsing experience online?
A search engine is a program that has tools which lets you locate information on the web.
The users type in the keywords in the simple form then it searches the Internet or database after that you get the search results.
How search engines work:
Directories
They list websites under categories. Some of them do provide free service while others do charge.
Pay Per Click search engines
They rank sites by letting web sites buy their ranking by using any kind of keywords combination.
Expert guide sites
Helps users find the information they are looking for from paid or volunteer guides.
Popularity engines
They ranked sites basing upon how many users have been clicking on a site for a given word.
Meta Search engines
They rank sites which checks many search engines then returns lists of web pages basing upon the high score on keyword relevance.
Methods in which search engines gather their listings:
- Crawler search engines - These use a crawler or another word for it is a spider in which it creates listings automatically. If there are changes to the web pages the crawler will find it then matches the changes to the listings. And whatever it finds it will go into search engine index.
- Human powered search directories - These search engines relies on individuals, which is responsible for web page submission to search engine. The search does only look for matches in description that was submitted.
All of this is just how a regular search engine operates. Imagine using an anonymous search engine it does this function as well as other extra stuff. These anonymous search engines are
Clusty.com
and Ixquick.com.
Clusty.com:
They don’t ask for personal information just by using their search engine. And no cookies is used to track web surfers online. The only times they do use cookies is only for storing personalize settings-adult filter, display options and to make Clusty’s speed better. This is a metasearch engine. Basically, it does query other search engines then combine the search results and it creates an ordered list. The user’s similar search results are grouped into clusters. The other part that I like most about this search engine is the font size selection. You can control Clusty’s font sizes.
Ixquick.com:
This search engine only log data just for the purpose of tracking sites statistics and performance. The users personal data that includes the IP addresses are then deleted from log files within 48 hours maximum.
Ixquick.com
is a powerful metasearch engine in which it searches in any 18 languages. Also, results are awarded stars-one star means it was chosen as 1 of 10th best results by every search engines and 5 stars means 5 search engines agreed on the result.
There are different types of search engines among the ones I am using is Clusty and Ixquick. Although they are anonymous search engines they give extra browsing protection than regular search engines. Trying something different might turn out to be beneficial.
