You’re Not Going to Get Rich or Paid Writing Online

Sun, Aug 9, 2009, by Captain Kim

Money Making

Sorry to burst a lot of your bubbles, but there is a growing misconception that online writing pays. It only pays if you’re willing to work, be patient and are a decent enough writer. It doesn’t pay if you’re constantly writing articles about nothing and you’re not working on your actual writing.

Sorry to burst a lot of your bubbles, but writing online doesn’t pay. The amount of time it takes to write a article versus the amount of money you receive from such a article doesn’t really even average up to minimum wage at McDonalds.. Yes it’s much much lower. Hell it doesn’t even add up to minimum wage anywhere, even in the Phillipines where paying someone to make shoes cost 40 cents a hour, yes it’s surprising isn’t it that you could make more money making shoes in a hot sweaty sweatshop than wasting your time in your air conditioned house writing a pointless article on “How to Make Money On the Internet” while trying yourself to make money on the internet (Funny isn’t it?)

Internet definitely isn’t the Money Making Machine you thought it out to be.

If you want to make money do something else, but I am really quite sick of reading articles every damn day on pointless crap that no one really wants to read just for the pennies that they’re worth. I can read from your own writing that you probably don’t even really care enough to even read over your own article yourself. Here’s a tip, write to write. Don’t focus on the money, the pay, the get rich-scheme that internet writing seems to bring. You sometimes hear the stories of good ol’ Joe who made 400$ in a month for writing online, hmm sounds good you say? Well not everyone is like good ol’ Joe, the internet is fair game to make cash writing, but don’t use and abuse it thinking, “HELL, I CAN BE THE NEXT JOE MAKING 500+$ ONLINE” Yes you can also make 1000$ a month being a prostitute, but you don’t see anyone going door to door advertising their own special “services” on a daily basis. You’re not a whore, so don’t whore out your own writing either.

Writing isn’t easy nor is it a get-rich-quick scheme that many people play it out to be

Writing isn’t easy. It takes time, practice, and more time and practice to work on and get anywhere with your writing. Many people I can tell are impatient when it comes to writing online articles. The questions, “How do I get more views?” and “How do I get money online from my articles?” is frequently asked. Well the biggest thing you can do to help with both is improve your writing. How do I improve my writing? Read. Yes, read and read and read and read; read other people’s articles, read books, read newspaper articles, read and read and read until you understand not just your own writing but other people’s writing too. Also a big thing that anyone can do when it comes to improving their writing is also practice, practice, practice, and more practice. I really enjoy sites like Triond.com and AssociatedContent because they allow me to practice my own writing and lets me see what I’m doing right and what i’m doing wrong.

Focus more on content not just form

Grammar, form, and spelling are all important and I’m not belittling the importance of good form in writing. More important than form though I believe is content. Write something that interests you, not the world. I hate reading articles about the newest “hot trends” because they’re not exactly what interests most people. They may be interesting to read, but if you’re not interested in writing them it shows up in your work. It’s like writing a huge article on the topic of redwood trees. If someone paid you 1000$ to write a 20 page paper you would definitely do it, but would it be a interesting read I doubt it unless you have a huge passion on trees you’re not going to convey a interest in your reader or get attention for your writing if you yourself are writing about stuff that you could care less about and only focusing on getting paid.

You’re not going to get rich or really get paid writing online. If you’re looking for a get rich quick scheme I suggest you get something people like to call a J O B, a job and get rich quicker and easier than writing online.

Thank you.. At least someone in the world understands the idiocy going on.

  2. dalia4world Says:

Good points, but let me tell something.

A good article is neutral, while this one is way too harsh, it suits to a personal blog, but not to a public e-zine.

A good article is free of grammar and spelling mistakes, but nobody is perfect, neither is the author of this article, as I could point out a number of mistakes, especially in punctuation.

IMHO, it should be the responsibility of the publisher to reject articles that are of too low quality. I agree that a lot of junk comes out to public, but it is mostly shame to the publishers, not to the writers, that they allow this junk.

I wish I could write one single article that would bring me one single dollar ;) Just for the fun of it, as, in a country where I live, just one hour of work per month would give more than hours and hours of writing. However, I wish to become a better writer. I have written scientific articles that took me months, just for one single article of 10 pages. Here online, I can relax and write something much more simple. I admit that I leave mistakes, and could achieve better quality, but I tend to spend more time only on selected articles that I like especially for some reason. Sorry for polluting :) I really would appreciate if publishers would reject my article until it lives up to the standards, but, unfortunately, the standards are extremely low.

  3. Zunairah Says:

Hi there…I really don’t agree with you..And thats really strange that your own article is published in The HOT content…strange enough…My article ” Internet and Globalization” became so much famous that I earned a lot from it..Consistency is the key to success….
If what you said is really correct then I bet you that you don’t write a single topic for TRIOND..

  4. Crossing roads Says:

The part I agree with in this is where you say that people should write about what interests them and not focus on the money. This statement makes perfect sense to me.

  5. Uma Shankari Says:

I agree with everything you said. At least somebody says ‘The emperor is naked’.

As an aside, I do not know what it takes to make it to the “hot content” – no. of views/comments/earnings/liked it flags. Many of the contents don’t fall into any of the categories. I should have included Triond’s fancies. May be that’s it.

An excellently presented article. Hits the nail on the head.

  6. R J Evans Says:

I do agree with some of this article but as one commenter noted your tone is quite harsh; perhaps that is from personal disappointment with online writing?

There is every point in writing about things which engage and interest you as it is likely they will do the same for others. Perserverence, I have found, is the key to successful online writing (many people give up after their first few articles fail to make enough for them to retire to Bermuda!). That and consistent quality of writing, of course.

  7. Ramalingam Says:

Your emphasis on the quality of the content is right. But all the writers who are writing on line know pretty well, that only a few people raise above the grade and most of them are earning only a paltry income. The ultimate object of writing that weighs more than money is passion or you can even say some sort of addiction to the online writing, just like playing cards, just like losing money in gambling etc. While in a gambling you lose money , whereas in the online we lose our precious time. But from a broader perspective your article sounds a little pessimistic than optimistic. Thank you for sharing your forthright views, which I cannot but appreciate.

  8. Curious Kitty Says:

kinda repetitive…and please, go over the grammar!

  9. Athlyn Green Says:

One of the best rules of thumb is to offer information that is helpful. If you offer something that someone is looking to learn, you find a larger audience.

Better still, point readers to related resources. An article that is an “all-in-one” is an article that is bookmarked and shared.

  10. Antuan Melvin Says:

This article was kind of harsh, and very critical. You must remember that Triond is not banned to anyone under 18. If Im correct, you have to be 13 years old, and alot of these people who write are actually 13-16 years old. They are just trying to earn a few dollars to pay for some game or toy online that they want, so cut them some slack! Dont forget that you used to be like them once before.

  11. revivor Says:

    harsh, upsetting but true!!
enjoy writing – it will improve many areas of life
keep learning – the internet throws up many surprises when it comes to “success”
    thanks, revivor

  12. Payge Says:

Agrees with some of the left comments but some of what you say is true.It wws a bit harsh and not all of us are born a Steven King Or even Ann Rice.We all had to start somewhere and its sometimes under 18,mistakes will be made.Even a vereran can make a mistake on occasion. And I have to slightly disagree on one mimor thing…..writing what is in your comfort zone is advisable yes and write what interest you is a good idea. But as you improve imoprove improve……and an experienced writer like some of us and me are…going “outside of the comfort zone’ isnt a bad thing. Some of my best stull was wrote that way.I think most know that you wont buy a steak dineer with the works on what you make by writing online.A whopper on sale with a fry and soda maybe. But some like me doesnt care about the money…just the chance to write, make friends, read others work and get your own work read… thats more important then any pennies made.It takes time to go from a newbie with no experience to a veteran writer….cut them some slack please. And to cion a well said phrase my grandma and mother told me….”.With age comes patience and wisdom”
Its a learned thing ,not something you are born with so it dont hurt to have patience withthe newbies,,someday they will bewhere the veterans are now while improvingtheir writing skills.

  13. TjRockin Says:

i really don’t agree with you!!

  14. deep blue Says:

Presumably you have your point but being too perfect we could only try our best. Being able to proofread our own work maybe another issue. I congratulate you for being in the hot content list which you earned in your own right and I very well know the climate in the Philippines where climbing the stairs of the LRT/MRT on the way to work could already get you sweating up. As for the thing called fulfillment, anybody would sacrifice writing stories without pay just to see his/her work published, that’s what everybody does right?.

  15. Rana Sinha Says:

It seems that only some people make decent incomes by writing online and most don’t. But still, sites like Triond give an opportunity for everyone to learn the ropes. Why gripe? Really well presented, readable articles with worthwhile content is hard to find though.

  16. Runewriter51 Says:

that is not true. Some people do make money on the internet and it is more than you think.

  17. athena goodlight Says:

I think you need a break. You sound so frustrated and bitter with online writing. Many people enjoy this activity, and some can make a living out of it, that your griping about it won’t hurt nor change their interest in writing more and more articles. Yes, we all learn everyday through own writings and the writings of others — that point taken.

congratulations for making it to the hot list. Now go get a whiff of fresh air, it will do you good…

  18. MassterGee Says:

Tbfh ser, you missed the most important part of making money writing. You need “friends”. A small internet cult following that will read your article/story/crap five times a second for the next three weeks. That’s how they do it.

Though, your point of view was refreshing and is completely true.

  19. giftarist Says:

    Some points are agreeable..
    Some are disappointments…
    And…
    The tone is harsh…

  20. Lilly0000 Says:

Wow, here I am all excited, cause I got a couple of pennies for one of my articles and never in the world did I ever think anyone would pay for something I wrote.
That is really interesting. Maybe it is about what interests you the most.

  21. skip Says:

This is an excellent example of a poorly written article – repetitious, strident, spelling errors (”Phillipines”), of no real value.

You’re right, Private Kim, you yourself will never make any serious money on the Internet. Go back to your J O B.

  22. Earl Schmegley Says:

Apparently if you use the words “writing,” “money,” and “on-line” you make it into the Hot Content window – even if the article is pointless crap.

  23. Poison Says:

I’ll take some advice but I’m not here for the money. Some people focus way too much on the money. Do it ’cause you like it.

  24. e.apia Says:

I disagree. I’ve made over $100 writing crappy work. I’m not proud. Trying to improve. Look at Perez Hilton who can’t write making millions writing on pictures, grammatical errors and all. He is now a self proclaim publicist to some stars. It can happen if you go about it in a creative way and stand out.

  25. e.apia Says:

On second thought…I also agree with you.

  26. Literati Says:

thanks for the racistic(is there such a word?) example in the shoe making job.

    :| from the Philippines…

  27. martie Says:

While I do agree that the focus should be on excellent articles that are well written and not the money, I also believe that as writer’s improve at their trade the money improves as well.

While I may never make my entire living off writing I do know that it will easy pay for my next vacation.

  28. IJ0728 Says:

I think the pay is a bonus. Yes, we may not earn much writing on the net but we get recognized by our work and our work is read and recognized by real people instead of it being in the “My Documents” of your computer.

  29. Jesse Barnett Says:

Well the one thing I have to say about this article is it attracts attention. It is human nature to be negative and that is the slant of this article. That aside what he says is true to the extent that most people think everything is get rich quick. It is a give me, give me, society and everyone thinks they rise above the rest.
The good thing about this guys statements is that he is not afraid to piss someone off and I like that.

  30. RJ Chamberlain Says:

I agree that reading articles of poor quality both grammatically and with regard to it’s form is highly irritating. This is where editors come in and Triond does an average job of it’s editing and so we get poor quality articles. A good idea I have found both to learn and be satisfied is to read the articles of writers you know to be “good” and stick with them. Avoid the people just out there for a quick buck.

  31. thestickman Says:

A acceptable ‘blog’ entry, but a definite thumbs-down for the open e-community. More suited for a private forum/writer’s blog. Your tone is unpleasant to read, jilted and almost angry. You have other facts inaccurate.

Your opinion while noted, is invalid based upon burden of proof available. Maybe yo have published elsewhere, but here you have published what, -nine articles here on Triond since Sept. of 2008 and you can pass the judgment that you do? I have articles that have earned $20.00, $30.00 apiece and more. My best performer earned over $120.00 in the first month, another $60.00 the second month and continues to earn even now some 7-months post-publication. Sure, -not enough from just this one article to pay my rent but for the 30-minutes it took to write it and 30-more to ‘polish it’ for publication, it has provided a great return.

I wish I earned more than I do. I understand the sentiment you seem to intend. But I am not really applying myself to the writing nor the promotion afterward. I assume neither are you.

  32. Allen Teal Says:

Your point that it is hard work is accurate. Your point that it pays less than sweatshops in foreign lands misses the mark. Most online writers understand that the payoff comes down the line. It’s like depositing money into a savings account each week. If you look at one week, you say what’s the use. If you look a decade later, you say, “Wow.” As one of those writers who makes hundreds per month on the pay per click, I can say it’s worth the effort if you keep adding material until you get enough to matter. This is especially true if you veiw it as a hobby. The time that you spent writing would have been dead non-earning time. Even pennies beat that. A bonus is that while you are writing, you can’t be spending either.

  33. Simon J R Holmes Says:

What this author forgets is that writing is a non-scalable career: you only need to write that hit blog/book/essay one time and then sit back while the money rolls in. Regular careers only pay by the rate you can work. So the dentist has to pull each and every tooth out himself, whereas the writer creates once and keeps on earning (if they are talented/lucky enough). I know which kind of career I would pick.

That said, I wrote an article The Tragedy Of The Common Blogger related to this idea – http://writinghood.com/online-writing/the-tragedy-of-the-common-blogger/

  34. Sahil1332 Says:

huh who is the real idiot…me or yuh :O

  35. Rob7389 Says:

It seems you’re a very intelligent writer, this is the perfect article for causing debate, controversy and most of all, attracting one hell of a lot of traffic. Perhaps you’re getting paid for this article?

  36. thestickman Says:

-I should have added that I wish this article success. I had noted it as residing on the #4 position of the current TOP-10. Kudoes for that! :-) Always enjoying seeing a new name enjoying the benefits of a ‘hot’ article.

  37. Stephen J. Ardent Says:

There is only one difference between a successful writer and an unsuccessful writer. The successful quit one less time.

  38. L. Cassandra Deaconescu Says:

I agree, I am sick of seeing articles where people do nothing but tell me about pay to click sites or how I can make money just by writing nonsensical blogs. I write about human rights and only human rights because I have studied sociology and psychology. I know about human rights, not technology or get rich quick schemes. Maybe my articles don’t interest everyone but they inform, they’re well written, and I write what I know. I think that is a huge mistake people make. They write what they think will get hits not what they know.

  39. jlstrine Says:

Your article needed reread, and edited for grammar and spelling before being published. If this is typical, no wonder success is elusive. Success follows quality.

  40. Joe Dorish Says:

Agree with you that most will never get rich writing online but you can make a little money doing it. I’ve made over $300 on this site alone since January. You have to stick with it.

  41. Holly J. Harrington Says:

I see you found a way to attract attention. Its true we wont get rich but its about the enjoyment and working hard whether this is our craft or an interest only. Who knows like most artists our work probably wont be famous until were all dead……..

  42. Holly J. Harrington Says:

    Of natural causes of course.

I think everyone does a fabulous job on triond. The articles and titles are very informative and interesting. Well thought out and researched.

  43. j p gallagher Says:

I can not believe I gave you a page view for that

  44. garg26 Says:

you do realise some people write for supporters for like politics knowing they can also get a little extra cash out of it

  45. AnnEMoss Says:

It’s not the content that pays, its the advertising.

  46. Ourel Says:

Maybe you are right man. Write some more stuff so we can see what yoou really write about. Anyway, I say, it would ber nice if youy can read some of my articles and tell me what you think. It seems you are quite knowledgible in writting, so I would appreciate your comment

  47. lukrisi Says:

I think there are people who just churn out articles, but there are others who really just enjoy writing. I spend time reading through what I’ve written to make sure it’s readable and free of spelling/grammatical errors. And I was very excited to make $1.70 for my first ten days of being on Triond last month. :-)

  48. sweetie1 Says:

this is a real good blog..i agree fully that despite 100s of page view you dont even make a $ and to get so many page views you get to send it to countless people whom you know..but still people would rather think they are going to get money from here.. soon people get tired and stop writing

  49. floop Says:

It’s rather hilarious that you are making a pretty good chunk of change off this article right now. Hell, I just helped you.

  50. Francy Says:

    great article.
    Keep sharing.

  51. JohnKing Says:

the amount you make has a lot to do with how much you work, a lazy person whines and complains about how little he makes while another person spends the time he could use complaining….to work ! Just something to think on.

    Take care

  52. deklin42 Says:

I agree you can’t make a living writing online, but at least its not a scam.

  53. Nikita K Says:

This is such a clever little article but bet with the views and the ‘like’s you are going to get richer than you imagined!

  54. Critical Lense Says:

lol ironic this article will get you some cents, perhaps a few dollars and its the one you wrote on how you can’t make alot on the web. I Agree with this article, although writing on here is an interesting passtime for me myself, and since you are writing, it must be for you too.

  55. Mr. Xbox Says:

And the reason he wrote this was to get paid…

  56. zimany Says:

strange even after this article i still feel the need to write articles…….. even though some are nonsense :} (another message from the frequently found name zimany)

  57. rjyuggy Says:

good points, we should view triond as a hobby not source of income. I love writing and new to this site. Hope more readers will appreciate my articles. Thanks for sharing this article.

  58. Mocha Says:

I believe that your views are wrong. Even if someone did not have a job, and wrote 40 articles a week they would earn something each week. People who learn how to improve their writing can make more money by writing for themselves on blogs, ebooks, websites, etc. It is possible to earn a few hundred or thousand dollars a month online. When you limit yourself to websites that are paying you an undisclosed amount of revenue you severely limit online earning potential.

Ehow, S101, are good places to start. http://freelancehomewriter.blogspot.com/search/label/EHow%20Tutorials
Use the link above to write profitable articles. 1 article written each day is 365 a year. If that article earns $1-$3 a month you can earn a good part time income for spending an hour or so each day working.

Learning how to write profitable articles is experience that can transfer to your own projects. Stay encouraged people.

  59. Francois Hagnere Says:

This is a well-written intelligent article. Personnaly, I write because I like to share, I like the friendship I found here and I agree that it is not well-paid at all!
    Thank you, Best wishes,
    François

  60. Ronald Russel Says:

Though your article has many very true and important facts, I believe that as long as you do something you love, money will follow.

  61. Bozsi Rose Says:

Keep in mind, most people writing for Triond or other sites aren’t professional writers. I mean no disrespect, but you can sell well crafted articles for much higher than you’ll earn on any of these sites, but you generally have to have a professional profile and body of work to do so. These sites are mostly for people learning to gain experience while earning a few bucks. I’ve never made great money from any of my online writing, but I make enough to take my husband and I out for a nice dinner every month, and I’ve learned a lot about SEO and keyword optimization.

I’m fine with the harshness of the article, but if you’re going to call out article quality and grammar, you should definitely do a better job checking out your own article.

  62. Sir Pall Estillo Says:

Brilliant really! Keep it up, and check out my articles as well if you don’t mind. :)

  63. chasov Says:

I write articles everyday in my spare time. So far I have about 90 articles here on Triond and last month I made $57 which isn’t too bad considering I promote my articles very little. I mostly write for my blog and the majority of my monthly Internet income comes from that. You can become rich writing on the Internet you just have to write something interesting and quality. You can’t write crap and expect to make money on it because no one will read your articles. If you consistently write quality, informative articles you will have loyal readers that will keep coming back to read more. Think about this if you write 10,000 and each of your articles gets on average 5 page views per day and earns on average just $0.01 (for simplicity sake) you will make $100 and $3,000. With that much money I think you can live ok considering it would also be tax free. One of my experiments is to eventually write that many articles and see if I can make that much money a months. This is not to say that I’m here only for money. I make enough in other places and I do concentrate on writing quality content because that is what I love doing.

  64. chasov Says:

Little correction to the above comment: you will make $100 per day and $3,000 per month.

  65. AngelaDavid Says:

Your article is generic. You should get many different views. Speak for yourself.

  66. Lovett1 Says:

You’ve written a very bold article, I don’t know, I shall see. The article I’ve written is called, How to survive in a dieing world. It is very tasty, try some.

  67. Burcu Unal Says:

I am a newcomer in the online writing world and this article attracted my attention immediately I must admit this:)
I think the aim is good, although the toning gets a bit over the aim. Nothing in the world is as easy as it seems. Nice things require some striving to reach, this is common knowledge for most of us. Whatever you do to earn money there are people who care about the quality of the work and who do not. I know this bacause I have been working for 11 years now. So I think the article has a point yet is also very open to get immediate negative reaction. The useful tips and ideas are mainly crushed under the tone.

  68. overwings Says:

You are very right and my articles are light years away to good quality though it is true that I nver saw this as a way to make money but to kill time when I have else nothing to do. It gives me more satisfaction than any other thing. May be one day I will learn to write properly and something that really interests people.

  69. Holly Sendy Says:

This article is very criticle. many of us here write articles so we can get published so that when we write a book or try to get an article published in a magazine that we have a better chance at sucess because we’ve been previously published on here. I think that if people read this article that many would take it the wrong way and not even try. I personally am a technical and creative writer who wants the previously published background for my book that is about to be published. I was disappointed that an article on here could be soo discouraging to the average writer and basically tell them that it’s pointless to basically write….

  70. Blade619 Says:

Just so as you know… I have one article which is currently at $3 an hour… but you’re right… there is no serious money in it.

  71. Netty net Says:

Will I do agree we shouldn’t give up our day time jobs, but people should write because they enjoy writing

  72. Carmelo Junior Says:

With great enthusiasm I receive the news that I have earned my first cent ($.01 ) for my article Sarah Palin Might Fulfill a Long Awaited Prophesy published in socyberty under Government. For me earning even this cent is magnificent and a challenge to keep writing.

I’m looking forward to earn more cents for my writings and perhaps increase my earnings. Great article!

  73. thestickman Says:

Wow… three days up around #2, and now #4 spot. Right behind RJ so you’re in good company anyway. Still disillusioned with writing? :-) You’re probably liking it a whole lot better today.

  74. joey111 Says:

Even though you may not get rich freind me and pm and I will add you and we can look at each other articles thereby raising views and our income

  75. raman13 Says:

I never read this kind of beautiful article. Yes, I believe that you are the person who can make $1000 + per month.

    Keep the good work on.

    Thanks Sir

    Best Regards

  76. RJAKS Says:

well this is very ironic, because you are earning money bigtime through this article!

  77. Guy Hogan Says:

This article has certainly gotten a great reaction and I congratulate you on that. Yes, many online writers are looking for a quick, big payoff which is not going to happen. And most are not going to put in the time and effort to become better writers and to learn how to publish quality content that readers search for on the world wide web.

A few writers will put in the time to be the best writers they can be and to publish quality content consistently over a long period of time. They won’t get rich but their income will increase every month.

The beauty of the Internet is that it has plenty of room for everyone.

    http://www.writinghood.com/online-writing/writing-blogging-and-hope/

  78. fedhz Says:

First off, I don’t know how you landed on my new blog. I haven’t promoted it yet, so cheers to me. I already had a reader.

I don’t know why you would leave such a message or that you just want to link your blogpost about not getting rich through writing. If it’s about me, I don’t really expect that I’ll get rich with my writing. I just wanna share that even though I’m not good in writing, I can still earn from it. Writing is just a hobby for me. For all you know, I’m just learning how to set up a blog. ^^

And yeah, I can’t afford a job right now cause I’m a mother of a toddler. I am trying to earn while at home and this “getting paid to write” is one of the ways I get money from without the need of leaving my daughter to a nanny.

So, how about you? Why are you writing anyway?

Here is a different point of view of making money from writing http://webupon.com/money-making/getting-rich-with-triond/ (Getting Rich with Triond)

Well, for most point I agree. Earning online for writing article need extra hard work. But if you love what you are doing, is actually not that big of hassle. And not to mention it could be pretty good method for backlink, well at least if the site allow you for posting a link. Squidoo for example didn’t have restricted rule to paste your affiliate link, that way squidoo also help with promoting and boosting your traffic.

Anyhow I should also mention this, you are smart for posting the title and the topic for you know it would grab people attention. You get both side attention, among those who looking to earn cash with writing and those who skeptical that they can make money with it.

In the end, I have to disagree with you, when saying that writing online is not a job. I donno how you really define a “job”, but from my point a view, whenever there are possibility to earn money, it worth calling it a “real job”.

Btw, applying for freelance writing also good for extra income.

I agree and enjoyed your article but one can never assume to know another persons passions or motivations for writing. Maybe they are passionate about red woods but just suck at writing.

Why would you write such a popular and hard hitting article if it wasn’t for your own personal gain? Or in other words you say you can’t make money yet you write this to make money…? I know a man who has made $19,000+ while writing/blogging online in 1 1/2 year

While I agree you’ll never get rich off writing on-line, unless you’re talented and lucky as hell. I disagree that you won’t ever get paid. I haven’t made much, but a residual income of a few cents each month on each short story I would have written anyway is plenty in my little world.

I started writing on Triond as a means to build a body of published works and get some feedback on them. If I were in it to get rich I wouldn’t be writing short stories, I’d be aiming for hot button topics like this one.

I fully agree. Great article. Though I’m guessing you are making a lot of money from this article, are you?

  85. M4Ni Says:

We waste valuable time writing pointless articles. Very valuable time you will NEVER get back.
