A simple look at Amazon Associates to increase website revenue.

The Amazon Associates program is a fantastic tool for those who are seeking revenue from their websites. Now, I am not going to tell you the secrets to earning thousands of dollars a day from this program because I don’t know them. All I am going to do is offer a very brief guide into how the Amazon Associates program can be used. There will be no fake statistics or images of my bank statements to tempt you to enrol. This is just a simple and personal guide.

When you first sign up to the Amazon Associates program you will be asked for your website details and what kind of products you would like to feature. This is one of the beauties of the program is that you have control over what you display. You can then choose products that fit in exactly with the content of your website.

This works especially well if your site has specific content. You are then merely guiding your website visitors to products that they will be interested in otherwise they would not be visiting your website in the first place. You will make more money if you are presenting products that your visitors want to buy rather than trying to convince them that they should buy a particular product. In essence then you are providing a gateway to what they already want or are genuinely interested in.

The range of advertising methods will give you the chance to tune and tweak your campaign to match your website, your needs and the needs of your visitors. You can choose products to match your site with the appropriate links, you can have Amazon Associates choose the products for you or you can feature best sellers, include a search box and present your own personal favourites.

As you can see then the possibilities are endless. What does seem to work well is your own recommendations based on products that you have personally tested or purchased. This will mean more to your website visitors because you are simply presenting them with what you know to be good products rather than trying to convince them of something that you yourself have not used.

Again, the emphasis is on guiding the visitor to the product that they are already looking for. Rather than becoming a salesperson then, you are merely showing them the way to get what they want. This will make your job so much easier.

As I have said, I am not going to deliver a presentation filled with fake promises of red Ferraris and Rolex watches. Yes, you can make money with Amazon Associates. How much? Well, that is up to you and the type of website and the visitors that you have. This is not a get rich quick scheme and will take time to establish and build up. This is especially true if your website is still new. Obviously if you have few visitors you will have less chance of those visitors making a purchase through you.

The first emphasis then is on producing a good quality website that is rich in useful content and building a following and getting regular traffic. When you have regular traffic you can then start experimenting with advertising to brink in revenue. The only rules would be what works for you and your website, so when you do sign up check the statistics and start analysing your visitors. Google Analytics is a great tool for checking bounce rates, time on site and where your visitors have come from. Building good quality links will help ranking and increase traffic. If some areas are working but not others then tune and tweak your advertising to get the best results. Be socially active with Twitter or similar websites. Perhaps post on forums that relate to your own website and include links on websites such as Yahoo Answers. This will increase your profile whilst providing free advertising.

Amazon Associates can provide you with extra income if you are patient and focus on your website visitors rather than the advertising itself.
