Making money on Triond may not happen automatically, but with these easy steps for marketing yourself you can improve your royalties in no time.
The first thing I need to tell you in this article is that making money on triond is not easy and defiantly not a get rich quick kind of process. The positive thing I can tell you is that with a few easy steps you can be making increasing royalties over time and the monthly payouts can add up if you take the time to write and market yourself intelligently.
- Picking your subjects: In the end, do write about what you love at least part of the time because enjoying your writing is one of the main points of Triond. That said be aware that news/business/ internet articles tend to make more money per view than poetry or creative writing. Try to diversify your topics, because you never know what might become extremely popular. A good example of this is my most popular article: How Does Your Nervous System Work?. Before this article I had basically only written nutrition based articles and I wrote this article based on a whim just for my own entertainment.
- Establish a good reputation for quality. This doesn’t mean spending 10 hours on every article, but do use spell check and put some research in. Make friends on Triond and follow and comment on their work as well.
- Digg: Try out digg for 5-10 of your articles and see how they do. Some articles wont get much traffic, but occasionally you will have one that hits a grand slam and after only 10-15 diggs you can be getting a lot of traffic!
- StumbleUpon: My personal favorite and probably the most likely to boost your royalties in the long run. Use StumbleUpon! They are an easy way to get your articles out there and they supply a steady trickle of new readers to your pages. Use StumbleUpon to bookmark both your individual articles and your homepage while you are not logged in so people will run into all your articles and media on one page. sign up at http://www.stumbleupon.com/
- Newsvine: Be aware that this site will kick you off for self promoting, so either make new accounts each time you are kicked off or even better also list other articles from friends, magazines etc. http://www.newsvine.com/
- Facebook/Myspace/Twitter or other social networking cites: You would be surprised how often your friends are interested to see what you’ve been up too! Do not underestimate the readership you can gain if you have a lot of internet loving friends on facebook, myspace or twitter. Triond has a tool for easily posting links to your articles on facebook and myspace as well as a new twitter feed.
Write two or three part articles or add a part two to popular articles you have already written and the add a link to that article at the bottom of your first article.
Be aware that you can also post articles you have already published on triond on Bukisa, in my experience bukisa does not pay as well but if you have a large library of older articles it could easily add significantly to your readership and income.

Thanks for the advice in your article. My poems don’t do all that well so I guess I need to try a bit of a different route.
