It’s the only choice for anyone younger than 16. How? Read this to find out.
During the last year, the economy has come spiraling down, also carrying a lot of people’s jobs with it. But, although the unemployment rate for adults is very high, the rate is even higher for teenagers. Especially those people that are younger than sixteen years old.
So what do some of them do? Turn to the internet. That’s what I did. But out of all the ways to make a fortune online, there is probably only one way for a teenager to make some money online. No one likes this, and it pays you at a horribly low rate, but it’s the only way to go for a teenager who wants no financial help from mom and dad. It’s called freelance writing.
You need to have tax information in order to be in any form of affiliate marketing, you need to work extremely hard if you want to start an ebay business, and if you want a niche content site, you will need to sign up for AdSense, Kontera and other ppc advertisers that all require some form of tax information. Just about every single way to make money online requires some form of investment, and tax information (two things that no teenager has). The only way to make money online that doesn’t require all this is freelance writing.
Freelancing is a horrible job, and not many teens will like it. They will say it’s too hard and pays horribly. They would rather not work than do this kind of slavery. In reality, all of us out of work teenagers don’t have much of a choice of which website to write for. There are a lot of sites that pay you to write for them, but half of them are not willing to pay teenagers.
Associated Content, Bukisa, HubPages, Squidoo, ConstantContent, Triond, and many other sites pay you to write, but out of that, a teenager has only one choice if he/she desires to make some money. Out of all of these, only two websites are willing to pay anyone. They are Bukisa, and Triond.
Last summer, when I started my freelancing career, I started as a writer for Triond. I barely made any money from it at first (some twenty cents the first month). It was horrible pay, until one of my articles got some hundreds of views a day. Since Triond pays by page views, I started making twenty two cents some days.
But that was not enough to fulfill my dream of making the three hundred dollars for soccer. So then I moved on to Bukisa. It turned out that Bukisa was an even worse place to write for. Bukisa promised me more money than Triond ($3.45 vs. $1.75) per one thousand views, but it was hard to even get to ten page views. After using Bukisa for two months with two articles, I only made some $0.04. My articles were only viewed 21 times. However, in Triond, it only took me a week to get five of my articles thirty times.
It turned out Bukisa articles are lucky to receive ten views. The articles published on Bukisa don’t get much traffic. In other words, you’re going to have to write a lot in order to get that $3.45.
So, if you are a teenager that can’t find any work, I recommend you work for Triond. It’s not like you have any other choice to make money. HubPages requires you to join affiliate programs to make money, and so does Squidoo. Associated Content requires nada, and pays a lot, but you need to wait until your 18 to use it for a good sum of money to flow into your pocket every month.
The key to making some ten or twenty dollars a month is to write a lot. Triond’s publishing network gets over a million unique page views a day, so you can expect some ten views per article per day if you’re writing is good enough of a writer.
All you have to focus on now is writing. You should try to have enough time to write one good article a day. Do this, and you should have about 90 articles by the end of summer, and about $50 to $100 in your pocket from it. It’s not much, but what can we do? We’re teenagers desperate for some money.

I agree that Triond is a good summer job but it doesn’t pay particularly well. You’d be better off with a job as a waiter. I found Triond quite good but the fact that I earned only $25 dollars in the 2 months of summer doesn’t really bode well considering that it’s only about £10 (British pound sterling) which is only one trip to the cinema. Good article though because you are right that this is the only payable site.

i find here in england a lot of employers prefer younger folk to the older ones as they pay them less wages, also doing paper rounds is a popular job for kids to earn a little bit, i am sure you will find decent jobs out there.

Agreed with Atikin. Triond is great, I would never get rid of a summer job for this site. There are always and will be job oppurtunies for teens during the summer. As long as you get the jobs before the college kids come home from school then you are in good hands.

Maybe Triond is best suited for the aspirations of the pre-and-mid-teenagers. It can be frustrating for ‘adults’ whom have larger expenses (not to belittle the needs of teens in any way though..)

Once Upon A Time… I was a teenager too, hoping to make enough money with my stories to travel with my girl-friend to Greece (I was living and I am still living in Belgium). And so I wrote a Sci-Fi story for an anthology that paid something like 10 dollar per page, I needed 300 dollar and so I wrote a 30 pages story… only to hear that they accepted only stories with a maximum of 15 pages… Now I wrote a letter to the editor, saying I needed the money to go with my girl-friend to Greece, it was a matter of life or death, you know… And guess what? They made an exception and my story was accepted.
Your article reminded me of that 30 pages story I wrote nearly 30 years ago… I am now and for nearly 25 years a full time free lance writer.
Keep writing, gourab… and keep believing in it!
