If you want to make money online using traffic exchanges, you have to understand one real truth about traffic exchanges.
Traffic exchanges are websites that exchange traffic for webmasters. If you have a website you would like people to view you would join a traffic exchange and submit your website. Then you would either view other people’s websites to earn credits which you would then use to have people doing the same view your site or you could purchase credits.

About a year ago a traffic exchange friend of mine decided to start his own traffic exchange and he asked me to help him test the site. I agreed and once the bugs were eliminated my friend opened his traffic exchange to the public and within months he had thousands of members. I am member of a number of traffic exchanges and noticed that my friend rarely sent out emails to his members, including me, promoting other traffic exchanges, Internet programs and money making websites. I asked him why and he said because he did not want to be like all the other traffic exchange owners who daily sent out promotions and angered their members.
I was shocked by his answer to say the least. He had been using traffic exchanges long before me and was a much bigger surfer than I could ever possibly be.

We both belong to a very large traffic exchange that ranks members based upon how much surfing they do and my friend had remained in the top 25 surfers in that exchange for well over 1 year. So I asked him how many people were like him and had remained in the top 25 over the last year. He looked and said he was surprised as he was the only one.
The real truth about traffic exchanges is that the people using them are almost always transitory. In almost all cases up to 90% of the people using a traffic exchange today will not be there using it 6 months from now. Every successful traffic exchange owner knows this (and believe me they would prefer you didn’t know this). But knowing that most users are transient, successful traffic exchange owners spend all of their time and money recruiting new members. The implications of this are huge for anybody trying to use traffic exchanges to make money online.
First, except under unusual circumstances do not waste any of your time promoting in traffic exchanges that are not growing rapidly. Unless you have a very unique and new product, you have to promote to the new people in traffic exchanges. The older users are already promoting exactly what you are or they are not interested in what you are promoting. New users are infinitely more likely to to take action with your ads.

Secondly, because new users are the ones most likely to take action with your ads and most of the new users will not be there in the near future your ads have to stand out from the crowd. This means you have to create and run your own ads. If you run ads everyone else is running it will just be pot luck if new people sign up from them.

Many people complain that traffic exchanges do not work and are a waste of time. That is true if you do not recognize the fundamental truth that the traffic exchange users you want to reach are transients. Recognizing this truth and building your ads and your advertising strategies around it is how you make money online using traffic exchanges.
