I confess, myself along with many others have fallen into this trap. Maybe you have too? When you’re thinking to yourself one day, ‘Hey, maybe I could make some extra money off the Internet, I’m sure it couldn’t be too hard.’ Well I’m really very sorry to disappoint you but it is very hard. Unless you come up with the new Google or Facebook or even a combination of the two you will struggle to make a decent income off the internet, especially if you want to do it in your spare time.

The fact of the matter is that making money off the Internet is hard, hard work. After scouting the Internet for get quick schemes to affiliate marketing there is not a single program or course that can magically make you a millionaire in a week. Any form of money making is going to be hard work.

Now that’s not to say that no one can make any money and that we should leave the Internet to the big boys, not at all. The real secret to making money online is good hard work. Anything can be done to make money online, whether it be affiliate marketing, running a website or freelance writing, anything goes. You just have to be completely dedicated to the cause and must remember one thing above all else, it takes a long, long time to make money off the Internet, it is not a get rich quick plan by any means.

So what should we do about this? It’s simple really, focus all your efforts on one thing and one thing only, if it’s writing then get connected with all the best writing websites out there. If it’s affiliate marketing then do proper thorough research on which products are best to market and with which company, find that perfect little niche in the market. If its running a website then buy a book on SEO techniques and update content to your site regularly. Obviously the more you look into a certain profession on the Internet the more you will learn.

Hard work pays off. There are millions of tiny guppies in the see but only a few real whales, the amount of hard work you put in to what you want to do will determine what size fish you will be. It is not impossible to make money off the Internet, it just takes a long time. But once you get the feel for it and start establishing yourself in cyber space the ball starts rolling much, much faster.

My recomendation to anybody wanting to try make money off the internet is to start very small. Start freelance writing or affiliate marketing, the former is much easier than the latter but they are both very good starting blocks and the safest bet out of all the choices of profession out there.
