It is not just one time that I have read in forums that Picable pays higher rates but gets less viewership. Here is some insight on how to get more viewership on Picable.
There, I’ve started it and there is no turning back. With good reviews from friends and new readers on my first mystery article, I figured why not another one. I got touched with the thanks from people who told me that I helped them get another 20 cents on their published articles and it made me think – “Twenty cents and they are thanking me for it? How much more if I can add another 5 cents!”.. Just kidding.
So, here I am again for another investigative work. Picable, the Triond branch for publishing pictures, sketches and whatever you can create on photoshop, scanners and other graphic generation tools. It is not just one time that I read in Forums that Picable pays higher but gets fewer viewership than that of text format. Honestly, I have never posted anything there myself. But the grievance of my friends and their continuous posting of links in different forums tugged at my conscience and hence, this article.
I planned on calling Triond executives and asked the reason why, but I’m too shy to do that. Stage fright has always been my company since childhood and don’t try to encourage me – it’s genetic. Writing them a letter will result in back and forth communication and will also end up in phone calls so I perished the thought. I tried searching for articles on the web but I got buried in so many choices of websites that I did not even open one. Starting that will surely eat my time intended for reading and commenting on new articles. So I just focused on the obvious.
Pictures posted on Picable, as I view it, are repetitive. Most pictures have so many replicas that you can look for it anywhere on the web. So one suggestion is to be unique. Problem number two, some authors do not even describe what they posted. So another suggestion is to enhance the photos with words that pertains to that image. Third, the author’s style becomes stagnant. I mean, he posts different pictures but with the same theme over and over again. And I admit, I hate to make the same comment on the different images time after time. I was running out of words and have to go to the word shop to look for synonyms.
Okay, I know. Some of you have read other articles that I may have repeated in the previous paragraph, and I am asking for their pardon right now. So on my part, I suggest that you do not show your pictures in your profile page. Restrict them in your portfolios and take the photo column right out. Maybe we can request the Triond people to just show the links and not the picture itself in the profiles. As for now, if you want to show the titles and not the pictures, just paste the link in your description area. This is to keep the mystery of your pictures active. On my own experience, I find it easier to watch them in the profile section than click on it one by one. You know, it is faster and a little bit more risk free of catching a bug in my PC. But I do click on them out of courtesy or if a unique picture is available. If it is on the News Feed site, I definitely go through them. But if I already saw it in the profiles, it makes me think twice.
So my friends, I hope that this article will help you earn those additional centavos. This will be all for now, unless your comments or forum posts tickles my detective side again.

I’m glad someone took the time to write about something I should have done! Can’t believe you said “centavos”! LOL!
You know, of course that I’m Mr. Picable so I hope I’m worth my 9 months when I say you are mostly right. I just don’t agree with the repetitive aspect in as much as artists who paint and draw is concerned. Self-respecting artists, of course, who can truly claim originality over their works. If someone tells me I copied someone’s artwork or just reposted it from their site, I’d be devastated!
Thank you for writing about this! I guess this also means that picable users should know about copyright laws and originality (and a lot of marketing know-how which is not much an artist’s line of interest).
One other reason why pictures don’t generate a lot of views is the triond setup when viewing another user. Notice that when you go to another user’s profile, the first things that you will see are the text works.

I planned on getting by with hitting the “I Like It” button; but decided that was in poor taste. Thanks for the words here, Rut—my daughter just started posting here and, so far, the bulk of her stuff is photos–similar themes too. I’ll send her here to view your article…luv ya’ man!

I’m so glad you wrote something about this Det. Rutherfranc. I don’t post on picable but I certainly get annoyed using the site to view my friends pictures. I know they say a picture paints a thousand words, but I prefer the word side of things. Great stuff!

I’ve only been doing this for a few months and noticed the very same thing.
As they say – ‘It pays to be different’. That’s why I am making a concerted effort to post articles and photos that are unique.
I hope your article will earn you many reviews and a lot more money!
Love and best wishes always.

Hi there! Its great to know that boredom made me learn new things.. ee?? lol sorry If i confused you with that one.. anyway.. I was just bored and stumbled upon my triond account which have been sitting there for quite sometimes.. And I found out that there is a forum and we can add friends too..
And now, I learned about this picable.. Im an artist.. but a face painting artist. so im not sure if I could also create something to submit in this category.. Thanks for the info.

I tried picable for a while thinking pictures are faster to create than articles and thus will bring in more views. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened. The images were only good for the first 2-3 days that they were published. Of course it has something to do with the camera, the subject, among others. It still can add trickles of income though. Make your titles interesting or intriguing to get more traffic.

If cash is your incentive, then go to constant content, they take quality pics and you can earn dollars per pic instead of cents.
Thanks,
Clay

Well, I agree somewhat. But some ppl have a certain type of photography they like to take. Like me, I like to take pictures of scenery. SO, yes, i take alot of the same pictures just different scenes in different places. I dont ask ppl to comment each of them, just their favorite. Thats all I want. So, if you run outta words, just dont say anything then. It works for me. but thanx for the tips rutherfranc.

i asked the triond support team before about the photos and the articles, they said that articles pays higher rates than photos because you need to add more effort and some research for your articles unlike for the photo!
February 10th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
Thank you, ruther, I have not posted on Picable but I think maybe I’ll start. By the way, I think we can change our webpage to have the pics viewed before the text. Not sure though.
