A popular site where people can complete offers in return for rewards, Rewards1 just seems too good to be true. Is it?

The Rewards1 homepage.
Recently I’ve heard about a site called Rewards1, where a person can complete offers in return for free rewards. But wait- isn’t that like any other supposedly “free” offer you see after clicking on an epilepsy-inducing advertisement? What makes this one different?
I entered the surprisingly ascetically pleasing website and signed up. Then I made a spam account since most of the offers would probably require you to enter an email address, which they will then use to proceed to bombard you with, well, spam. It’s even recommended by Rewards1. At least they had to courtesy to tell you.

After completing the description listed next to each offer, users get a certain amount of points which can be then used for rewards.
To get your rewards, you must first go to a list of offers which tell you what requirements you must fulfill. These can range from just signing up for newsletters to completing surveys. After you have met the requirements, you will get a certain amount of points, which you can then trade in for rewards. The site has a vast amount of rewards, from almost every electronic you can think of to jewelry. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, there’s a request form where you can link to a vendor’s site for the item you’re looking for.

The categories of rewards the site have to offer
So what’s the catch? Patience. A point is equal to one US Dollar, and since the rewards are priced at their retail value, it will be a while until you get enough points for an Xbox 360 by entering in personal information for an offer that gives you less than one point. You can try the referral system, where you can get a portion of what your friends earn, but no doubt they’ll run into the same snags that you did.
In conclusion, it’s legit and not a scam. You can get free things, just as long as you’re okay answering surveys, downloading programs, and entering personal information into “Win a free $100 gift card” offers. A lot of them.
Want to try a similar website? Prizerebel.com uses the same basic idea, and is organized better, however lacks a forum and a Beginner’s Guide. Still worth a shot.
