There is several reasons why we can make money from Triond by having a lot of enemies. Rivalry could motivate us to write more and is a good source of new ideas and topics.
Rivalry could motivate us to write more
Do you ever feel like visiting a forum several times a day because someone is in disagreement with your point of views and you want to see what they are going to say about your counter arguments? That is actually an evidence that rivalries and disagreement could motivate us to write and read more.
Instead of using that motivation to argue in a forum, why not earn more money by writing down your points of disagreement, arguments and counter-arguments as a series of linked articles and counter-articles in Triond. This way both you and your enemies are going to profit from your rivalries. Many people end up deciding to abandon their precious rivalries, just because they can’t profit from it. By writing down your disagreement as Triond articles, you can preserve your rivalries as long as possible.
Enemies are more loyal reading your articles than your friends
Of course you have to read in detail articles written by your enemies. Remember that you have to write a counter-argument for it later. You have to be sure that all your counter-arguments are really related to your enemy’s arguments or your enemy may consider you unworthy of the rivalry.
This is actually a logical result of reading Sun Tzu : The art of War. If you know yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles. In Japan during the period of Sengoku Jidai, all Daimyo read the book of Sun Tzu, which result in rivalries and intricacies that last for a long time. Had only one Daimyo read the book of Sun Tzu, the war would be over in a blink of an eye.
People tend to be supportive is there is a competition going on
Do you ever see people flocking and cheering inside a stadium when there is no competition scheduled for that night? There is no point to support any team when there is no competition between two teams. Almost no one care about what members of a soccer team are doing in when they are competing. As someone held a competition however, people start flocking into the stadium, turn on their TV or radio and focus their entire attention to the movement of each players. Competition is a good way to attract people attention.
In any online forum visitors tend to follow a discussion more closely if there is some disagreement going on in said thread. Based on this observation result on people behavior in several online forums, I would predict that readers are going to follow links stating that what written in this article is a counter-argument for other articles. Sometimes we simply need more stimulation and watching disagreement and competition is a good source of stimulation.
Suggestion for Triond: Add Enemy in Triond Community
Therefore, I think beside the existing functionality to add other user as friends, we have to be able to add other users as enemies as well. If only one side declare the rivalry then they are called Enemy (somehow analog to Fans), if both side agree to the rivalry then they are called Rival (somehow analog to Friends). Until Triond actually add such functionality, it is alright to add your enemies as friends.
Of course anyone is free to disagree with my opinion as written in this article. In such case, I would suggest you to write an article about why you don’t agree with my point of view and your counter-argument. It is also advised to link to this article to your counter-article, just in case your readers want to see which part of this article you are in disagreement with.

Pretty smart idea. Hehe, I’d love to read the counter-articles and disagreements (spelling??) but I personally steer clear of conflict if at all possible. Maybe I need to overcome that, though, with all your great points in this article ; ).

You are my first enemy then. What can I do to destroy you?

I bet that even with enemies you are not making money here because you do not know how to Stumble this and social share this page.

@redburn#2
Well, we can write counter-articles for one another for a start
@redburn#3
Hmm, you are right about that. I have to look for more detail about how to Stumble.
