Useful article for anyone looking to enter the world of affiliate marketing.
There is a tsunami of “business opportunities” on the web at the best of times and now with the current financial crisis bedding itself in we are seeing more “unbeatable systems” on offer. Are they all get rich quick schemes that empty your bank account? It can be difficult to tell so here are some pointers to help you make a more informed decision before parting with hard earned cash.
Review sites that claim to put these systems to test can sometimes have an agenda. Be cautious when reading their recommendations and look for affiliate links to the ones that they do recommend, these links mean that the site will getting commission on any program that you subscribe to. Many of these sites don’t actually name and shame the scammers (probably for legal reasons) so they are really only suggesting sites where a profitable outcome is ambiguous, and as they state, success is down to your own efforts. So really they are not telling you much.
In itself Affiliate marketing (commission based links from a site) is potentially one of the most profitable systems out there. There many bedroom millionaires who have found this out and are willing to share their success with you (for a small fee!!) so you may say how can I possibly loose? The horror stories are of people haemorrhaging money on Google Ads and seeing no profits. The bottom line here is if you are not familiar with search engine optimisation, financial advertising strategies and the general e-business environment, you may well struggle with the concepts. This struggle is a learning curve and could be a very expensive one. This is a business like any other and without knowledge and experience you should be realistic about your rate of success. If you are serious about getting into this field then look for a provider who can offer you at least 6 months of mentoring, a phone number that they can be reached on and a sensible budget to work to.
Alternatively learn about it yourself for free through researching on the internet and at your local library. It is not expensive to open your own website on whatever subject you like and to put on relevant links to products that other site sell and still make money. There are just as many successful people who have done just that, almost by accident in some cases.
There is a whole planet full of people who are becoming more of a family through the internet. Home-grown web sites and blogs are becoming more and more attractive to the average buyer; as one very successful e-businessman pointed out to me, “people like to buy from people”. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the big players in e-business so there are plenty of opportunities to explore. Bear that in mind and consider what your real passion is in life and get it out there; you may be pleasantly surprised at the response and any residual business development will be natural, at you own pace and less expensive.
