Money Making

Learning to find your way around the GPT landscape can go a long way in setting yourself up for long term gains.

You want to know how to earn cash online?  Congratulations, and welcome to the land of GPT or Get Paid To websites.  Most likely these sites number in the thousands, of those, only a handful have been around for awhile and are stable enough to support a substantial user base.  Those are sites that I concentrate on, and I will share them in later articles in this series I seem to have fallen into writing.

If you are new to the game, GPT web sites, or Get Paid To web sites, allow you complete offers and surveys for amounts ranging from ten cents to three dollars and higher.  The sky is the limit, you can get paid to click, read, post, even play games.  All it takes is a little research, and some careful planning and you can be on your way.  If you are like me, then you prefer to let your friends and contacts do a lot of your leg work when it comes to research.  Therefore, much of what I have learned began with finding one simple blog from a pal:  www.gptguidetomakemoney.blogspot.com. Again I plug that blog, because they got me started, and I feel obligated to help them out.

Much of what I am going to say in the next few paragraphs is common sense, and a lot of it is, some of it is learned hands on the GPT sites themselves.  I do offer a word of caution, while GPT sites are a great way to earn extra cash, there are some pitfalls that experience has taught me to avoid.  I share it with you in hopes you will share what you learn, so that we can all be successful together.  That being said onto the good stuff.

When getting ready for a GPT run, you will need to set up an email address specifically designated for these endeavours.  Essentially, prepare for spam.  But remember that the main point of the companies you will dealing with, not the GPT sites themselves (ie Cashcrate, FusionCash, Inbox Dollars, etc) but the companies whose offers and surveys you will be filling out, is gathering information and distributing such information.  Which includes sending you more offers, which you will agree to by checking by boxes in order to complete the paying offer in the first place.  You will receive very little in the way of actual snail USPS delivered mail, unless you request it.  Also, the majority of the offers require a valid phone number, so unless you are set up with second line or so, prepare the phone to ring.   The phone will not ring off the hook, but a few folks may try to get in touch with you.  If you decide to use a cell number, be ready for a few text ads as well, but by these are easily remedied by replying STOP usually.

Still another habit to get into is deleting your cookies after clicking submit or completing an offer.  For some reason the same companies serve up multiple offers at the same time, by clearing your cookies you minimize the chance that your computer will be identified as trying to complete the same offer twice.  Never fear though, if an offer fails to credit into your account, 99.9% of the time it pops back up in the “to be completed” areas.  Seems that deleting cookies and occasionally clearing history helps out.

Chances are you have a Paypal account, maybe you do not.  A few sites offer Paypal deposits as ways of receiving funds.  This process grants you a quicker access time to your money as you are not waiting for a check.  Paypal also offers a debit card linked to your account, this is free with a certain type of Paypal account.  However, the freedom you receive with access to your cash is unparalleled.

Visit the forums of the GPT sites you select.  Find out what everyone is up to, what offers are hot, what’s not working, etc.  Just stay in the know.  Fusion Cash for example also pays you $3 a month to post thirty items in the forum, granted there are a few rules to follow, but still $3 for posting in a forum is a nice little bonus.

You can also earn commissions on just about all the GPT sites but utilizing referrals, most of the sites give you easy access to your personal links and banners.  This should explain why I plugged that blog earlier.  The commission is nice, and if you get a large enough down line (people who signed up under you) you can literally sit back and watch the dollars click in.  At least that’s the plan, I personally have about two referrals per site, and one is my parents, the other is my sister.  Honestly, I do not seem to be the best person to ask about getting referrals.  But know that they exist, and can be a valuable tool to earn some cash.

Be responsible.  These sites are tools to earn cash, do not abuse your tools.  Never forget to treat them with honesty and respect, as they pay you to use their service.  This should NEVER be the other way around.  Again, NEVER pay to join a GPT site, all the reputable ones are free to join.  Do not be tempted to create a bunch of email addresses to join as referrals under you, the terms of service for the majority of the sites you will use state very clearly, one account per address.  This is similar to clicking on your own AdSense ads, do not risk getting banned from good thing.

Diversify.  Back to the tool analogy for a moment, keep a variety of tools in your drawer.  Once you are tapped out with one, switch another for a while.  Keep changing things up, the results may surprise you.

The last piece of advice is be patient.  You do not build a several hundred dollar a month system overnight, heck, probably not in six months.  But if you stay patient, and climb the ladder one rung at a time you will get it to work.  Make sure you are noting the time you are putting in against your monetary returns, this will dictate your value relationship to your GPT sites.  GPT sites are great.  Do not expect to get rich, but expect to be rewarded for your time.  My favorite line is from a blog, “If you see a quarter laying in the street, you would pick it up wouldn’t you?”  So pick up those quarters, soon you will have some dollars.
