Making money online is no easy task. There are ways to make money online with very little startup costs. Adsense is one of those ways.
Google Adsense is a very difficult beast to master. On the one hand, there are no direct costs involved with using Adsense. You don’t have to pay for an account, and there are ways to use adsense without even paying for webspace.
The trick for using adsense to make money is to create a mass of content, lace it with adsense ads, and allow the clicks to trickle in. This is no easy task, as once you have begun creating content, you will no doubt begin to wonder… how do I bring people to my content? Let’s address a few different ways you can make this happen.
First, you can create a blog, using
Blogger
, WordPress or Live Journal. The one I am most familiar with is Blogger, and I know that there is a very easy way to implement Adsense in your blog template without having to worry with any HTML code. The most important thing about going the blog route is that you want to be creating content that services a particular human information need. Find a topic that you are knowledgeable in, focus in on your blog entries as though they were each articles giving benefit to your readers. People will occasionally find your blog on their own, but we will get to advertising in a moment.
Another way to create content on the internet is to buy a domain name (around $20 with the proper privacy options selected from
GoDaddy.com
and host it somewhere. I recommend starting off with
FreeHostia
, as they are completely free and offer very good, reliable service. Until your traffic demands it, you won’t need to pay a cent, and at that point you can easily upgrade for a very low price. At that point you create your web page and serve content from there.
A third way to create content online is to use a service such as
Triond
. You create an account for free, then upload your content, be it articles, pictures, or movies. Once approved, other websites can buy your content from
Triond
, and you will begin receiving royalties for the income generated on the page where your article is placed. This is the easiest option, and because of Triond’s connections you may find your content on pages with excellent traffic. You don’t have to advertise this one at all.
For options one and two, there are several ways to generate traffic, most of which are laborious and take a lot of time. I recommend setting up an Adwords account and driving low-cost-per-click traffic to your site heavily for a week or two – maybe spend $10/day on $0.12 clicks. Some of these people will bookmark your page, pass it around to their friends, and generally begin creating regular readers/viewers of your content. Meanwhile, whenever they click on one of your adsense ads, you get a few cents (or even a dollar or two, depending on the keywords the ads on your page reflect).
The main thing you want to do in any of these cases is to create enough content to keep people coming back for more, and to give them plenty to do on your site, so that you collect returning visitors and their friends, all of which may click on your ads once in a while. The more content and the more traffic, the better, as a few adsense clicks don’t bring in much. It will probably take a while before you generate enough traffic to begin earning a significant amount of adsense revenue. But that’s ok, because once the work is done, it’s done forever, and you have a money-earning machine working with you as you do what you enjoy online.
