Money Making

Tips and advice on how to use SliceThePie effectively to make as much money as possible. I have already made over £15 myself.

With SliceThePie you can make money with little effort. If you haven’t heard of this site, you simply listen to a track by an unsigned band, write a short review and give the song a rating out of 10. Here are some tips for how to use SliceThePie effectively and maximise your earnings:

Getting Started

Register if you haven’t done so already, make up the name of a record label to put in your profile and head to the “Scout Rooms” to start “Scouting” and earning money. You will initially get 3p a song, but this will go up to 5p, 7p, 9p or even 12p as your star rating increases, from writing enough reviews.

Review Content

If your reviews are too short and not useful, you may receive a warning or be banned. I recommend you write around 3 lines per each review, this is only short because the writing box is small and so is very doable. Bashing a band without reason could also get you banned. Always give constructive criticism, tell them exactly how to improve, make sure they know which aspects of the song are lacking.

Song Rating

If your accuracy is too low, you may not increase your rating and the amount of money you earn per review. Your accuracy is determined by how similar it is to other users, if your song ratings are radically different to everyone else this is likely to be low. Always be quite conservative, don’t give out loads of 1’s and 2’s unless they really deserve it, likewise don’t give everyone a 10. By giving conservative ratings you are likely to get a decent accuracy rating.

Speed of Reviewing

You can’t submit or even write a review until you have listened to a song for at least 60 seconds. This is presumably so you listen to the song properly before you judge it. Open a word processing program and type in your review ready while the 60 seconds ticks away, and paste it straight in when it’s up. With this method you can get through it a lot faster. With the processor maximized you should aim to write your review to fit one line or more.

Payment

Note that you can’t draw your money out until it reaches £5. This unfortunately can take a while, but by the time you get to this stage your next fiver should come much quicker. If you like instead, you can invest the £5 in a promising band, invest in them and get money back if they do well!
