Surfing the net provides you with an abundance of get-rich-now style articles all ending with the same common theme; ORDER NOW. And that’s the big problem. How can you tell if what you are “ordering now” is, first of all, legitimate and, second of all, worth your while?
My reason for this piece is an accidental stumble upon a website through a writers market on the huge benefits of working as a copywriter. AWAI (Association of Writers & Artist Inc) claims that through their programme you can earn a six figure income by writing just one or two direct-response letters for companies promoting their product or service. It claims you can basically give up your day job, move to small town Vermont and ski and golf whilst writing when you have too. Immediately alarm bells rang. After looking at their website and searching numerous blogs for info on AWAI, my instincts proved correct. Most bloggers believed it was just not that simple and that very few people actually achieved a six figure income let alone enough to feed their family. I’m sure that if you managed to develop a solid portfolio alongside a generous contacts list and a valued reputation, then you may do very well. It’s just not as simple as AWAI makes out. The clincher for me…ORDER NOW for $197 dollars.
My point? There’s only one person getting rich quick and it’s the guy you are paying $197. Be careful out there.
