Money Making

Make thousands by selling something “virtual” – find out the secret weapon that major services like Yahoo! and Facebook are using to earn millions in non-advertising based profits.

Do you have to sell online to have a lucrative site or service? You do not need to sell products or services to create an income online. In fact this is often a bad idea. You do have to sell something – but it is not a product. You are selling your idea or self-image in the form of a web front.

If you make just 5c each second, you will have earned over $1 million in 12 months time. The more visitors you have at your site the more you will earn from these adverts. Many people are making thousands a month just running a few advertisements on their blog; however there are also additional and alternative methods to generate a passive income from your project.

Even if you are not running a business-based site you can still make money from your personal site through advertising if you have a steady amount of traffic. Check out Google adsense to discover how to make cash by placing ads on your site. Alternatively, pick a creative idea and stick with it – even if you make a few dollars per sale of ‘fun’ content such as graphics, virtual gifts, or avatars, you could make a good amount of cash from your personal site.

In 2006 FaceBook offered $1 gifts that friends on the network could buy each other. The gifts were just graphic files that would appear once ‘purchased’. No virtual exchange exists, but the concept of giving exists here – people feel like they are doing something nice but the gift itself is not real – it’s just a small picture.

Other sites have also released ‘online worlds’ where people can buy clothes, weapons, and tools for their character – all of these are of course ‘virtual’ and not real, but still cause a great interest from web visitors. Let’s go back to the FaceBook example for a moment. Consider each gift costs $1 – not a lot, is it? Now consider a few hundred people purchase gifts for each other each day. That’s over $10,000 a month in profits from selling something ‘virtual’.

Being creative with your site is the key to having a very lucrative website, without requiring you to have a business oriented web-front. If you can create a fun environment that charges a small amount for special content on your site you can earn more than a business site ever would.
