Making money writing short articles that people want to read. Here’s how to come up with that great idea.
If you’re looking to make money online then a great way that doesn’t cost anything to do is to write articles that have something to do with your product or service.
- Internet search engines are always looking for new and unique content that is written and submitted by people just like you. Thinking up fresh ideas for new articles is something every writer struggles with at first, but the following tips just might help.
- Visit some online forums. See what others are talking about. What questions are being asked? Threads that are attracting a lot of interest are a great source of topics for articles.
- News and discussions on the TV/radio, or in newspapers and even online can also be a source of hot topics worthy of an article.
- Check out some related blogs. The blogosphere is huge, and you can be sure people are actively discussing every imaginable topic. So is there something hot being talked about now? What questions are they asking? Just like forums, blogs are a great source of information that people are interested in hearing about.
- Do a survey for your existing customers or people visiting your website. Let them tell you exactly what they want you to write articles about. They know best of all what interests them.
- Browse through online bookstores. Pay attention to the best sellers list. If people are already reading about particular topics, then why not provide them with articles about the same things.
- Are there any seasonal events, such as sports seasons, festivals, holidays etc that you could write about. People are always interested in things that are current (or about to be current).
- What are the current fads or fashions? What are your kids into at the moment? These are always great sources for articles – especially as they tend to repeat every few years or so.
- Frequently asked questions (FAQ). Make a log of every question your existing and prospective customers ask you. Maybe there’s scope for an article that would answer these questions for future customers.
- Create a swipe file i.e. collect articles that have been written by others. These are a terrific source for ideas and inspiration (just don’t copy the article and claim it as your own). Swipe files are great for referencing at the point you are ready to write a new article but just can’t decide what to write about. Chances are, if it’s a topic that has already been written about, there’s someone interested in reading about it.
If the above tips aren’t enough to get your creative juices going, or you’re just having a hard time writing your next article, you could always get someone else to write it for you. Just make sure it’s worth your while paying someone else to write for you.
Making money from your own articles is definitely a satisfying endeavour, and hopefully you’ve now got some great ways to decide what to write about.
