Good blogs that make money, are ones that are focused on something specific and have a good page rank. Be passionate about your subject, and generate as much traffic as you can. If you are obsessed, others will be, too. A good thing to know, is that you should not expect to get rich from your blog, especially not right away. Some blogs have millions of visitors each day, and bring in 40,000 dollars a month. Unless you have that kind of traffic every day, don’t quit your day job just yet….

Selling advertising space is the top money making method with a blog. Adsense, a service from Google, will place relevant advertisements on your blog. If the reader clicks on the link, you. get. paid! Exactly how much depends on your traffic. This method is very simple, but the downside to that, is that you don’t get to choose the advertisers, or how much you get paid.

Some advertisers, like those at BlogAds.com help you find advertisers, and choose the ones you want, and give you the right to set the price. This method puts you in control, but the downside is that you may get too picky, and choose the wrong advertisers, or be too choosy on the payout price, and you wont make any money.

You can get paid to write a product review that relates to your blog’s topic. Places like payperpost.com will match you with a price and a product. Reviews can be short, and don’t have to be positive, but you will have to disclose your getting paid. One thing to know is that you should stay credible, be honest, and don’t do too many paid reviews. If you look like a marketing show, you will lose readers, and money.

Sell merchandise. Suppose your blog has a really cool logo, or you have come up with some really cool catch phrase that has caught on. Put it on a coffee cup, or t-shirt. There are a lot of sites that will do this for you, including cafepress.com. They earn the base price and you earn the mark up.

Many bloggers find that they make more money from a blog, because it steers them towards a product they are selling, or a company/business that they own. Think of it as an ad for YOU. Something else to do is get a donate button on your blog. Some sights like paypal.com will do this for you. You are blogging your heart out. Why not ask your audience to toss a coin into your hat?
