Money Making

One of the biggest misconceptions about Adsense was that you could just place the code given to you from the Adsense webpage, on your website pages and then start raking in the money. Although this was partially the case and you could make a small amount from doing this, what a lot of people didn’t realize is that by placing these ads on their sites and forgetting about them, they were missing out on hundreds to thousands of dollars each and every month.

Adsense, for those who aren’t familiar with it is a form of pay per click advertising that was created by the popular search engine company Google.  Google released their Adsense program back in 2003, and has been making a lot of people hundreds and thousands of dollars every month.

This can be done through several ways; the first is that Google allows you to change the color of the ad and its text. This is very important and could mean the difference between the $100/month and $1000/month.  The idea is that a lot of visitors will simply overlook ads, or will ignore them if they know they’re there.

There are basically two color methods that have been proven to work the best. The first is a color scheme that matches that of your webpage content.  This will cause your ads to look just like your regular content, and will therefore look less like ads.

The second way is all about the position of the ads. There have been numerous extensive studies done on how people read or scan through a web page. It has been shown that people tend scan in a diagonal type pattern from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner of the web page.

This is important information, because the more your ads are seen the more of a chance they will be clicked on. There is a diagram that shows the biggest hotspots on a web page that receive the most views from the reader. This diagram will help you to place your Adsense ads where they will get the most views. Please not that this diagram works great but you will still have to do some testing to see what works best for your web pages.

The third method is a color scheme that compliments your web page content. This has been shown to work on some websites because it will still flow with your content, but will help to bring attention to the ads as well.

Finally Adsense ads are textual ads that are shown based on the content of your specific web pages.  The key to getting more ad clicks is to have advertisements that display ads that are relevant to your content.  In order to do this you will have to make sure that your content includes good quality keywords and phrases that describe your specific topic. You will also want to avoid covering more than one topic per page as this will also give you less relevant ads.
