I thought you only made money from Triond!
I thought Triond payed you good cash, too. But is that really the case? No. You get payed in coins, and sometimes a dollar bill or two. But most of the time, you don’t get that money in hand at the end of the month. Actually, unless you make fifty dollars in revenues a month, you don’t get paid that month unless you havve PayPal. If you don’t have PayPal, don’t expect a check from Triond at the end of the month.
On Triond, if you are a prolific writer, you have the potential to earn money. By this, I mean three to four dollars a month. If your articles are good enough, you can earn maybe 25 cents per month per article.
Does it sound like much? No. That’s not even close to good enough for most people. It is a well known fact that you can’t live off of working for Triond (one exception: Kristie Leong MD). But if you write enough, all the money you earn can build up. It isn’t going to be a lot, but it won’t be too little, either. How?
Think of the money you earn from Triond as an exponential relationship. It increases at an amazing rate. The longer you are a writer for Triond, and the more friends you make, the higher your earnings will rise. However, that is very hard to calculate and is probably impossible to calculate , so I can just show you how your earnings build up.
Let’s say that one article makes you 10 cents a month on average. If you write ten articles a month, you should make about one dollar that month. Simple enough? Good.
If you keep writing at that rate, your earnings will add up. If you take that formula of a dollar for every ten articles per month, you can make a gross approximation of when you will get your first $50 paycheck. This does not include how your popularity will increase, or if your work makes it into the Hot Content section. The chart below explains when you should be able to get you first check.

So according to that basis of ten cents per article per month every month after the first month it is online, you should get your first check in the mail in about 10 months. However, it might be less due to Hot Content placement, a very big fan base, and many other factors.
So what does this have to do with a macbook? A macbook represents the amount of money you should make writing 10 articles a month for four months if each word was worth four cents in a 250 word article. But do you? No, most of us Triond writers don’t get even close to that. We all get about one hundred times less than that.
True, that is kind of expensive for Triond, to give a writer that makes ten cents an article per month, but an article that is worth ten cents a month is a pretty good article. If it’s creative writing, it’s even more valuable. You should get at least one cent a word for that article.
Though it is true that writing is something that you should do for fun, not money, it’s hard to resist the temptation of money. It’s something people will easily get bribed by. If you are writing for cash, and have some experience as a freelancer, write for some place that pays you good. For example, write for Associated Content (it is WAY better than Triond), Helium, or Constant Content.
So keeping this in mind, please give me your feedback on this article. Please.

I use PayPal and I get my earning every month. I get only about 4 dollars a month although before I used to average at 1 dollar 50 cents.I do agree with you that it is hard to earn absolutely loads through Triond.
There is one thing though. I have about 65 articles or so (not counting the photographs) but when I first started I didn’t even earn a dollar! I think the more you right, the better you get so eventually in a year, you should have a good number of dollars or so as you calculated through your clever little chart.
Good article and cleverly titled, must I say? I thought Triond was giving away MacBooks. Silly me!

Oops, spelling error – The more you ‘write’ the better you get.
And also, I forgot to mention, what you’ve concluded with is so true! Triond is all about the writing experience than the earning experience. I mean just to have a portfolio online seems good enough for stuff like Uni applications and things. Though, you are right in saying that the money is probably one of the factors that keeps us writers motivated.

I also thought Triond was giving a free Macbook lol. Great article tho.If all of the people on Triond supported each other, we all would make tons of money but I guess no one thinks like that…

Great advice, I have also heard that Associated content pay more, a friend of mine submitted her first article there, which wasnt very long or even something that would have a broad interest and she made $3 in the first DAY.
