Building a proper list can make you a lot of money online.
Do you need a list to make real money online? Many people, including most internet gurus, will tell you that you need a list to make real money online. Personally, I make money online using lists but I also make money online without using lists. But having properly built lists makes it much easier to make money online.
What Is a List?
A list is a group of people who opt-in to receive information from you to their email. If you have good information on specific online topics people will opt-in and give you their name and email to receive information from you. An easy way to look at this is if Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Warren Buffet was personally offering you free cutting edge information on new software, hardware, digital products, Microsoft products, Apple products like iPods, Macs or iPhones or investment advice on stocks online in emails, you would probably sign up to receive the information.

To get the information you simply fill in your first name and give an email address and then when they have new information they would email it to you. You would be subscribed to their lists.

If you have good free information on a niche topic you know well you can build your own list online and people will sign up to receive the information. While giving the information you can also place affiliate links and ads in your emails to your list. If people buy things from your links you get paid a commission. For example: if you build a list of people who have asthma you can keep them up to date on cutting edge treatments and if a new natural cure for asthma is found you can place your affiliate link for that product in your email and then make a commission if people in your list buy the product from your link.
Where a list is really helpful is when you fill it with people who are highly likely to take action with what you are promoting. Over and over you can promote to people who will take action. A list filled with people like that is pure gold to you.
The same group of people might be very willing to try whatever you are promoting as long as you are honest and informative. Using the asthma example, the same people might be very willing to keep trying the new asthma treatments you inform them about in your emails. Each online purchase they make from your affiliate links is a commission for you.
Building an opt-in list is one way to make money online and if you do it right, a sure way to keep making money online over and over.

So many things to think about. I do agree with you that the only way for people to really opt in to make them feel as though they need what your selling, and by showing to them that it’s not a scam.

This is a great idea, but with so many scams out there, I just dont see how anyone would cooperate. I know that I trash all mail from unknown sources.

Jo, people have to opt-in to your list. That means they fill out a form saying they want the information and then they have to confirm they want it through their email. And they can opt-out of your list anytime too with one click.

Read through your series of articles. In a sense, our friend list on Triond is a “list”. Or at least it is for me, since I have populated my friend list with people who’s work I enjoy reading and look forward to their newest articles.

Yes Daisy, I guess you can consider our friends in Triond a list. But you can only promote your articles to your friends here and Triond does not allow us to promote in our articles. To make real money in Triond from our friends list here we would need a friends list of thousands.
