Blogging for an Income

Blogging for money is not all about writing. At first I thought it is simply about writing something good to read, and then I realized I am finding myself on a different playing field. 

I wrote and wrote and wrote – no one read; I had to face the age old question why would anyone come looking for your blog anyway. As a newbie I were just another blogger disappearing amongst a million others. Do you know the feeling? You open your blog day after day and find no sign of traffic. That is heartbreaking to say the least. 

I knew I had to do something and fast. I had a four month window, after that I would be looking for a job. Suddenly four months were not that long. 

The change came when I started publishing with Triond. I fell in love with the stats on my dashboard and opened it to look at the referring sites and the hits for the day. I knew I had to increase the hits for the day in some way. That increased the income part. I started fiddling with everything, looking for ways to improve on what I did before. Then I found the share button – some things just take me longer than most.

Using the share button, my hits to my articles suddenly increased. The stats showed which of these sites gave me more hits too. I realized that I could use this for my blogs too. More sharing meant more hits; more hits meant more ad revenue. I started advertising my blogs on all lo the sites I could link to, using my share button on my blog and other sites I am connected to.

The stats on Triond showed something else too. Some articles got more hits even though I advertised everything on the same places. It looked like reader interest followed a certain line, so I got smart. I started adding more on that topic; both in my blog and on Triond. Again my stats improved. My income also improved.

Blogging for money is more than simply being a good writer. Writing is simply one of the skills you need. Being able to market your blog on the net and being able to write what your readers want, that is key. Without that you will be where I started. Who will read your blog?
