A quick overview.
Whether we are young or old, we only succeed in life, if we always continue to learn new things. This holds true especially for our short-lived times in which new jobs and skill-sets are being created every second. So success implies learning. This in itself is nothing new. But how, exactly can we leverage the net and modern tools to get the most out of it?
There have been a number of terms attached to learning online like e.g. eLearning, eTutoring, Distance Learning, TeleLearning, etc. , some of them have been around for quite a while, but still there are many questions both by teachers and students as to what exactly elearning means and how far it can complement or even substitute traditional modes of learning.
In order to establish a common base, in this article eLearning, eTutoring, etc. refers to real time interaction with a teacher or other class members, using audio, video and chat in order to learn or acquire a language, skill or participate in discussion.
Now, there are a lot of really qualitative sites out there, but there are even more which are dead, discontinued or otherwise non-effective. But generally all of those can be grouped into two categories: Either they are free marketplaces in which tutors or teachers can advertise their services or they are online schools, which offer curriculums and subjects similar to an offline school or university.
Online Learning Market Places
1. eduFire is well-designed, easy to use and offers lessons in all subjects and price-ranges.
2. Myngle is very similar to eduFire but with the great plus that the currency is in Euros and the site language can be switched.
Online Schools
1. Learnoutlive is an online school put together by freelance teachers offering language lessons in Arabic, German, English, French, Spanish and Hebrew at maximum quality affordable prices, big discounts and compared to market place sites is really easy to use.
2. eTeacherGroup is a more business-oriented model which offers a set of sub-sites on which their languages (Chinese, English, Hebrew, etc.) are being offered.
