Why/how Do The Top Ranking Online Writers Always Get Growing Traffic to Their Articles?

Every blogger or online writer (Triond/Bukisa/Other writer) would want to increase or get some traffic to their blog posts or articles. This is not about getting a steady traffic every day. But it is about getting a steadily increasing traffic day after day or week after week or month after month. One will understand the importance of this when one reaches a point of getting certain amount of steady traffic daily.

Once you reach a certain point of steady traffic, you will start calculating the amount of effort need to write more articles, promote them etc. to increase that traffic level to much higher levels or to a set target. For example with an Ecpm of $1 to earn $500/month you would estimate that you should reach the point of getting 500,000 visitors per month. If it took 100 hours of effort to write 50 articles, and promote them to get 800 visits per day, now you would have to spend >20 times the effort or 2000 hours of effort. At a better rate of achieving traffic the goal can be met easily but then again you would raise your targets even higher levels which means you would always end up calculating the time to be spent to meet future goals to be 5 times or 10 times or 20 times of the time spent so far to reach the current level.

This certainly sounds like a daunting task unless you are very good at churning out articles or fully dedicated to online writing. But this is not the case with everyone. Most have day jobs to go to and also a family to look after. Thus you will start feeling helpless to go upwards as fast as you reached the current goals.

But then you know that some of the online writers are able to constantly grow their traffic. How is this possible?

One solution is to start outsourcing our work to ghost writers. But that costs money and cuts profits. So the ultimate solution is to outsource the task to volunteers – that is to trigger the volunteers in your audience. You cannot expect to have your audience write articles for you. But you can expect them to promote your articles so its traffic gains steadily even more.

The top ranking writers tap into this set of audience that can do the favor for them. So you need to change your writing style so it makes some of the readers who have the habit of tweeting, bookmarking or sharing, any articles they like, with others.

We can accomplish this in several ways.

  • We can add footnotes requesting them to do so.
  • We can write very informative articles that make all types of audience (novice to expert) appreciate some part or the other in the article.
  • We can use our own knowledge, analysis or experience to create content that audience wouldn’t be able find elsewhere. Then they are bound to bookmark the article for future reference.
  • Most important of all is to write more and more articles at the same quality but at a faster rate. This results in more audience to your entire work, which means more of those set of volunteers that bookmark your content. This is just a numbers game, more articles – more audience – more volunteers – more auto-promotions – more traffic.

This goes on like a cycle once set into motion. You would have already noticed if you had an evergreen article or blog post in your portfolio. Look at its historical trend. It wouldn’t have suddenly got increased traffic overnight. That must have increased steadily day by day. And you can notice the difference between that and other low traffic articles.

A successful article to get steadily increasing traffic must attract more audience and request them to take an action (share, tweet, bookmark) if they liked it. It works like magic. For ex, doesn’t your referral count grow by putting footnote with referral link to join Triond?

Now this is the secret of those top ranking writers that continue get traffic that grows steadily and income that grows steadily month after month.

If you liked this article, I would be thankful if you just do me a favor by bookmarking or tweeting or liking it on your favorite social networking site or linking through your blog.

  3. I agree with your suggestion, but I do find it hard to do. There were a few times where I’ve come up with “sticky” ideas that people want to pass along, but I can’t do it consistantly.

  4. very interesting and informative as well

  6. Very good article. I liked it.

  7. If an article talks about something that interests the readers, it’s not difficult promoting it. I post it on my Facebook wall and the number of Likes it gets, immediately grows. Meanwhile, no matter how I promote it if it’s something that doesn’t interest them, it doesn’t get noticed at all.

Food for thought here. Sounds rather blatant but……
