This is an interesting find I found about the Tag system.
So what are the tags in an article. They are the keywords that people will find your work with. It is what search engines like Google will look for when searching. The more keywords you have. The easier it is for people to find your article, picture or video.
The Experiment
I made two articles on a test Triond account and we added 15 tags to one of them, the tags were very accurate. Then we recorded the results for a day and added the same article again with 30+ tags.
The Results
We found out that the article with lots of tags had more views but the article with 15 tags had more ‘I Like It’s’ and comments. Accurate tags can help you find your target audience but more tags will get you more views which is more money. So the question is, which one should you go for?
I have found out that having accurate tags is better as I had 2 articles. One with many tags and the other with accurate tags. The one with many tags zoomed ahead with the one with accurate tags trailing. However, after a few days, the one with accurate tags started reaching the targeted audience and that caused it to become more popular and eventually overtaking the other article.
Conclusion
You should always add accurate tags and it is fine to make them long but do not make them too long. Also adding your username to tags will help people find all of your work easier meaning more money. Also try not to enter every little word in your tag list like “and”, “to” and “I”, these are not required as keywords will find your article and not the little words. I hope you now know that tagging can get you that many extra views, in my opinion it is the second most important thing in an article right after the quality.
