You can have a Web site of great design. You can offer quality services. You can sell splendid products. But you can still have very few customers.

If you Web site’s counter shows 10 visitors last week, it is time (it’s never late) to take care of your site’s promotion.

How do you attract visitors to your Web site? Well, you may buy a lot of advertisement positions in different advertising companies. It costs a lot, but it can give you a lot of profit. However, what about free traffic generation?

You can include your site into several most popular search engines, like Google or Yahoo!. Basically, search engines do not charge webmasters for participating. Well, but it will not bring you a lot of customers if your site is in the 123rd position in the search results. Sure, you can (and you should) make your Web site SEOed (SEO stands for the search engine optimization, it is the process of making your site’s content keyword rich). Also do not devote your site’s content to a single topic. For example, place news headlines at the right or at the left of your site’s pages. Many news publishers now offers free using of their headlines linking to their general sites. (Note: do not use JavaScript solutions! Search engines will not see the text included by JavaScript. Use server side scripts solution, e.g. PHP scripts.) Also include another interesting content, not at the distinct sections but at the distinct blocks at the existing pages.

Use viral reports and testimonials. Write some great content, include your ad there and make it viral, i.e. such report that everyone will be encouraged to give it to other people. This will spread your report like a virus! The only problem is how to make people to spread this content. Well, it can be some fancy or funny content, like fun drawings, wallpapers, funny stories etc. You can also participate in different viral reports’ affiliate programs. They will allow you to use the real magic formula “make money by giving this report away”, a kind of good incentive to spread your ad, isn’t it?

And probably the greatest way to generate free traffic is to use free banner exchange systems. The members, which participate in such system, place banner rotator scripts at their sites. These scripts show different banners of other members after each reloading. In reward for placing the banner rotator, a member’s ad is also included into the banners list in order to be shown at other members’ sites.

Usually, your banner is shown number of times depending on how many banners of other members has your site shown. For example, it can be 70% ratio, i.e. for every 10 banners shown at your site your banner will be shown 7 times at different sites that participate in the program, too.

The little problem is to get initial number of visitors daily to earn some starting banner showings. You can use other ways of traffic generation to attract them, and after you have this initial number of visitors, your site’s counter will explode. Say, per every five your banner’s showings one man clicks the banner and goes to your site. Now let you have 10 visitors per day initially. It means 10 banner showings. So you will have 7 showings of your own banner, 1 extra visitor will go to your site. It means you will have 11 visitors next day, i.e. 7 showings of your own banner. One more visitor will go to your site, see banners there, generate 12 showing of your own banner next day, if you continued to calculate, you will receive 100 visitors daily after 23 days, and 1000 visitors daily after 40 days, given your 10 visitors per day initially! Really, this number will be bit smaller, but still give you huge traffic growth.

So combine different ways and generate tens of thousands of visitors free of charge!
