A review of the site called From Home Data Entry (www.fromhomedataentry.com)

I started making on-line money in 2007. I tried taking on-line surveys, pay per click sites, on-line writing, website reviews, etc. Some of them actually pay while some are nothing but scams. I have encountered more than 50 sites that really have a know-how on scamming ordinary people, and believe me, they are sooo good at it. I will be happy to share all of my experiences with these sites in my future posts so you will be warned. But let me start with this one.
My latest experience is with this site called From Home Data Entry. The site’s introductory slogan “Because your family deserves better” is very enticing. They are trying to imply that their site will provide you substantial amount of earnings just by working at home. By signing-up in their site, you will have more time and money to spend with your family… as they say “Because your family deserves better”.
This site promises you $10 for every accomplished assignments. The assignment requires you to review a particular website. The sites that you will review are usually websites that sells e-books. Your assignment requires you to make a summary of that site, recommend any changes on the content, recommend a price for the featured product, and to check on any grammatical errors.
The Packages.
After reading their attractive introductory page, they will offer you 7 FREE assignments or $70 worth of earnings if you sign up. However, you cannot withdraw your “trial” earning unless you purchase any of their packages. There are three packages available, these are:
- The small package, which contains 100 assignments. If you manage to complete all these assignments they will be worth $1000 of earnings. The cost of the small package is $24.95.
- The next package is what they call the large package, this package has 300 assignments and if you are able to complete all of these you will earn $3,000. The cost of this package is $49.95.
- And the last package is called the large package & small package, this package has 400 assignments or worth $4,000 earnings which only cost $59.95.
Another noticeable feature of From Home Data Entry is they will not show you the complete terms and conditions unless you decide to purchase any of the said package. Anyway, I bought the small package worth $24.95. They will send you a program that you need to download after the purchase. You have to log-on to that program for you to access your assignments. At the end of every assignment, just click the submit button and they will send you an email that acknowledges your submission. You will not receive any comment from them regarding your assignments unless you finish all the assignments of your chosen package. However, If you request payout before you have completed all assignments, you will not be paid for any of the remaining assignments, and most of all you cannot request for refund.
It took me three weeks just to finish 50 assignments, I requested payout even if I’m only halfway of the package. After pushing the “pay-out button”, I received this message from my email:
Hello,
We have received your request for payout. It will take us 6-8 weeks to process your payout. We have to wait until we receive payment from each company before we are able to pay you.
DO NOT REQUEST PAYOUT AGAIN! If you do it will delay your payout request longer.
Sincerely,
From Home Data Entry
You are right! You need to wait for another 6-8 week before they will pay you. So I waited for 7 weeks before I made a follow-up. They replied to my follow-up and this was their email:
Hello,
We have sent all of your assignments to the companies and all of them have refused to pay because you failed to comply with the terms when you completed your assignments. The agreement that we have with these companies is that they are only required to pay for assignments if they are completely in line with all of the terms.
Please take this time now to read our terms. If you go to our home page you will see the terms link located at the very bottom of the page as well as on the sign up page and the assignments before you log-in and many other places located on our website.
We are not able to force these companies to pay when the terms are not followed.
Gees! It took them 7 long weeks to inform me that all 57 assignments (including the 7 trial assignments) are not qualified for pay-out. And they only informed me about it after I made a follow-up.
Another best thing about this site is they carry a “scam-free certification” from “DigitSec”*. Wow!
And by the way, From Home Data Entry runs a referral contest. The winners will receive cash. The top referrer will receive a $500 bonus. Second place referrer will receive a $200 bonus.Ten (10) third place referrers will receive a $25 bonus. But another “good thing” about this contest is you will not be given a report on who signed-up on your referral link. So you will have no idea on who won the contest. Double Wow!
So, what do you think of this site? You be the judge.
*Update: Digitsec already removed From Home Data Entry from their certified scam free site. DigitSec CEO saw this article and made an investigation afterwards.

I do not trust any website offering home data entry. I prefer to publish in legitimate sites like Triond, Helium and AC. Thanks for this post.

If they ask for money upfront to give you work I would be suspicious.

Andrea,
My wife and I have been looking for online work for almost a year now. It seems all online jobs are scams. I would be very interested in the ones that are legitimate. I lost my job a year ago, and I’m in that age group where I’m too old to get a job and too young to retire. Trying to find online labor opportunities is very frustrating because of all the scams. We even tried Home Data Entry and had the same experience as you’ve described here. I can’t wait to read your up coming articles on these scammers. I would also like to suggest that you give us a list of the online opportunities that are legit. These scams need to be exposed. So keep up the great work, and I will definitely be looking for your other articles on this subject.

Oh my God! Such a sicko scammer site that is!! These people should be subjected to legal action. Thanks for sharing this with us

FromHomeDataEntry has our trust seals as it passed the verification process, therefor I requested their payout proofs (screenshots of their PayPal account) in order to investigate complaints made to DigitSec.
Based on our terms, their website is rejected until we investigate.
Andrea Smith, can you tell me your user name on their website? Is it possible that one of your assignments (or more) were incomplete? I can request additional information about this case, and it’s in their best interest to try to resolve this.
All the best,
Ivan Kresic, CEO of DigitSec

What a scamerama! It is such a shame that cybercrims like this are allowed to thrive while the law takes years to catch up.
One thing I would always advise people, as has been pointed out here. NEVER give your own money to people offering you work. It is almost guaranteed that they will take it… and run.

Wow what a scam. I hope they get themselves sued someday.

I think that this website is most certainly a scam. Any website which doesn’t let you get paid from their trial before you buy a package really isn’t worth the bother.
I wish that there was a site like that which was genuine though, as I actually enjoy completing tasks like that.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:18 am
it was pretty obvious they were upto something fishy when they asked you to purchase one of their packages first. thanks for the sharing anyway. the world need to know about the scammers, though.

Data entry jobs on the internet are a myth. I never thought they really exist. They are all scams.

great review – if all your others were like this…why were they turned down??
November 10th, 2009 at 7:33 am
I had just joined and i wanted to buy the packages just now when a thought ran in to my head to google, then i came accross this great information. Andrea, you are a star! Thanks
November 13th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
I joined this program and purchased the big package, of course. I completed my 300 assignments and just requested payment. So I guess it is time to hold my breath and pray. I do know that I have had several questions for them over the past few weeks, and my emails were always promptly replied to any questions were always answered, so I thought maybe they were in fact legit. Did anyone that signed up for it get any money? I can’t believe they state to people that basically they did the assignments wrong. The questions are straight-forward. So it sounds like once again, I should have done my research. Due to the fact that there are so many scams out there, isn’t there any legal recourse, or anything we victims can do? Can we at least write off our wasted money on our tax returns? I guess I will post back when my 6 weeks expires to let you all know what the outcome is. Thanks for all your posts. Has anyone found anything that works out there?
