The secret to getting visitors to your website is by tweaking and optimizing certain aspects of it. Here is a short and simple list of things you can do to increase traffic to your website.

Google and Yahoo PPC keywords are generally a lot more expensive however you can set a daily spending limit for your ads.
- Writing New Content and Articles – Another great way to get people visiting your website is by providing new content, usually in the form of articles. Writing an informative article which brings attention to your business or ideas can be very effective. Once you’ve written your articles, submit them to online article directories and sites such as ezine. Include a link in your “about the author” box at the bottom of the article so people can link through to your site. The added link-backs will also help with SEO.

- Newsletters - Newsletters can be a great way to bring a human touch to your website. This will also encourage a community interaction between your readers and the site. - Swapping Banners - Banner Exchanges are work wonders for your website traffic because they are so visual and stand out more. In the same way you can apply link exchanges, you can also apply banners to your site from other sites. Your banners will then appear on their sites.
- Layout - Take some time to look at how your site is laid out, is it easy to navigate, are the menus clear or confusing? You want to make you site easy to navigate so visitors also come back once they’ve arrived. Spending some time freshening up and de-cluttering your front page will have a positive effect on the number of people which return to your site. You certainly want new people visiting your site, but you also want them to come back right? So keep it fresh, and don’t let it stagnate, new content each week would also be a good idea.

Great Article. Very detailed and comprehensive!
One of the best ways to get website traffic FOR FREE is to add content.
You can’t beat it. Adding content sends the search engines over to your site, and they love content.
Another GREAT way is to comment on other people’s blogs relevant to your niche.
