Pay per view (PPV) and pay per click (PPC) are two forms of marketing advertisings used by the advertisers to reach a targeted group of people. Between them, which marketing strategy performs better?
What is PPV?
PPV refers to pay per view, and PPV advertising is commonly known as cost per view advertising or contextual advertising. Basically, when someone sets their eyes on your website or webpage you get paid, and similarly, you also get paid when someone clicks on your ads within the text in your webpage.
What is PPC?
PPC stands for pay per click. That means when someone clicks on your ads, you’ll get paid, but you won’t get paid even they visit your website or webpage.
Between PPC and PPV, Which Marketing Strategy Works Better?
Recent survey I did shows that fewer people prefer to click on pay-per-click ads, particularly Adsense ads by Google. Most of them found these ads to be annoying, and many of them are no longer prefer to use Adsense ads on their blogs or websites due to several bad experiences where their accounts were being suspended for the reason of invalid clicks, and some of them were never get paid even though they’ve reached to a minimum payout of $100. Instead, Google closed their adsense accounts for unexplainable excuses. Meanwhile, most companies nowadays aren’t paying much attention to optimize their PPC ads, because they think this marketing strategy can leave negative impact to their business.
In comparison to PPV, PPC’s rules change very often. Since PPC ads pay higher than PPV ads, their payment changes in accordance to the ad costs, marketing strategy, target goals and to where the source sends the traffic to the ads. In terms of monetary matter, PPC can sometimes be regarded as a confusing form of advertising. For advertisers, PPC ads can either bring them tons of traffics or tons of debts if the PPC formula performs badly.
The other problem with PPC is the keywords. For advertisers, many keywords can be expensive to bid on and their ads may be pushed to second page or the last page. In a case that their ads are not placed on the first page, their marketing strategy can be burnt off. That means they spent lots of money on those ads but they gain small return or no return at all.
PPC ads like Google adsense ads are always in a common format and thus, as a publisher, you could hardly get people to click on them. As long as the ads are not eye-catching, even the ads are placed in a strategic position in your text, blog or webpage, they won’t tempt people to set eyes on them either.
Let’s assume that you get 1,000 targeted daily visitors, you’ll get paid for $1-$3 per day, and the traffics will be redirected to your webpage, in a monthly basis, you’ve accumulated $30-$90. In a PPC basis, you may get tons of free traffics; however, if they’re not targeted to specific keywords to lead readers/customers to click on the ads, you won’t see any revenue there. That’s why many marketers have long been using PPV for a big return on investment (ROI). PPV has been a cost-effective, more secure, guaranteed payment as well as a popular way to get a constant targeted traffic via internet.
Out there, there appear to be a competitive trend for people to search terms or keywords online. If they search one advertisement that doesn’t match what they’re searching for, they’ll unconsciously hit the “Back” button. The other related ads as well as those best placement ads will be ignored.
Now, imagine that you’re in the shoes of the readers or customers. When you click on the ads, you always want to look for the product that was advertised. But in certain occasion, you’ll bring to a “non-working page” or “error 404 page” or it brings you to somewhere which you feel uncomfortable, you’ll definitely hit the “Back” button. The frustration brings by this advertisement, will undeniably lead you losing interest to click on other ads.
PPV is always risk free. Unlike PPC, you don’t have to spend much time on tags and keywords used by many people via e-marketing. The revenue generated from PPC is always in a high risk and unstable. For instance, BigMoneyPTC.com pays you $1 per click, but at last, they pay you nothing (read more from my previous article entitled the biggest scams on the internet). As like Google adsense, they reserve right either to pay you or not (read more from my previous article entitled Google adsense: worth it or not?), and their decision is always FINAL and unquestionable. In PPV marketing, if you organize your articles perfectly, you can still earn constant revenue that you’ve been striving for online business, online marketing or online writing.

Excellent insider’s ringside view that I enjoyed reading. I haven’t done any survey, but still, by hunch, prefer PPV. Triond’s scheme is PPV, isn’t it?

In the future I think PPV will end up being the way most of the internet goes. Advertisers like McDonalds or car companies will simply pay to have their ads displayed on high volume sites like on TV. The PPC model will always have a place but it’s not practical for most of the really big advertisers out there.

It’s good to get this information out there. PPV has a bad rep but as you dig into it, it’s a GREAT alternative to PPC and Google.
I started using it as a supplemental traffic source and now I run 99% PPV traffic.
Besides, with a good URL Scraper and some other PPV tools, the campaigns fly together much quicker than PPC.
