Gone are the days when we used Xanga to rant about how we spent our time in school. Now having a blog equals to owning a property. We can keep it for a while, see its value grow in the market and when the time is right we can sell it to a person ready to pay us a good chunks of dollars. But before all this, we need to make sure that it has enough contents and a good page rank.
Now as you know the page rank of a blog depends on backlinks. Of course, most of us use social bookmarking sites to get them. But did you ever consider submitting your blog URL to online directories? They too provide us backlinks and above all, a boost in traffic. Search engines just find it much easier to follow sites listed in directories. The only problem is that many of them charge a fee or ask the blog owners to obey the reciprocal link rule. Unfortunately, reciprocal links equal to link exchange which is seen as a red flag.
But good news is that there are some other directories who do charge a fee and ask for reciprocal link, but in between they also have a free link submission system. If you use only that feature they will take 3 to 5 business days to approve your link to list on their sites. But there is nothing wrong in waiting right? After all, having a backlink matters most. Apparently, there are some other directories which do not give importance to such features. They will place your link anyways, but you have to verify that you are its owner by clicking the confirmation link they will send you to your email. In brief, do not type a rubbish email address on their submission form and expect to get away with it. In fact, doing so will only make you waste your time.
