6 Quick Tips on Creating Effective Internet Marketing Copy
Be precise, but interesting.
No one wants to read dry, boring web copy. Provide useful information but say it efficiently with as few words as possible. If you can say it in 1 instead of 3 words by rewriting a sentence, rewrite the sentence.
Write marketing copy, not informational, educational copy only.
You can inspire and educate your audience at the same time. Wasn’t your favorite professor the one that was organized but also entertaining to listen to? You have 1-2 seconds to capture a web reader’s attention. Do it quickly and with fun, interesting words on your subject.
Use headers on key paragraphs.
Web readers scan, they don’t read every word. Make it easy for your pages to be scanned and call attention to what you really want them to read with thoughtful, short headers in a larger font.
Have someone edit your work.
No one is good at catching their own mistakes. Take a minute and have a colleague or friend read what you wrote. Ask them to explain back to you what it says to be sure your message will be received.
Chunk information in a design friendly manner.
Don’t just copy and paste your word document onto your web site. Carefully edit down the information into bite size chunks.
Invest in an RSS program to enable your readers to subscribe to your content feed. And then keep your content fresh with weekly new articles, press releases and product release information.
Implement these tips and your web site will bring visitors back again and again– to learn from you and buy your products and services.
