Hostgator Web Hosting: A Review

Hosting

One of the leading Web hosting service gets reviewed. How does it perform?

I’ve been with Hostgator for almost three years now, and through it I’ve setup, transferred and shut down more websites than most people I know. And I’ve never once been let down.

Hosting Options

Hostgator offer a wide array of service to customers, from standard Shared hosting to Virtual Private Servers and – for the most professional and demanding web services – dedicated servers. The comes the pricing. For regular Shared Hosting there are three packages, with the most basic offering only one domain. However, all three allow you to purchase up to three years of hosting in advance for a discount.

Ease of Use

Hostgator is extremely easy to use. Their cPanel makes it simple to upload a fully functional website in minutes. Combined with the easy email control panel and their own in built website designer and auto-installer, the Hostgator cPanel provides an excellent way to get started. They even provide tutorials for the absolute beginner to get to grips with starting a website. The only confusion comes from setting up an additional domain (if your hosting plans allows that), which requires quite a bit of research to get working perfectly.

Support

The support from Hostgator is top notch. Their Live Chat is probably the most helpful support I’ve received from any website, for anything. They know what they’re talking about, explain things simply and in three years of using Hostgator there has never been a problem related to web hosting they cannot fix for me.

Conclusion

If I had to recommend only one web hosting service, it would be Hostgator, no doubt. Although they have a few flaws, they are the only hosting service I’ve never even considered leaving. They made it very simple for me to host my websites, and are always there when I need help. Definitely give them a try.
