Looking for UK based affordable hosting. I have reviewed two hosts, UK2, one of the biggest and well-known brands, and an up and coming company GeekSrv.

Well looking for webhosting there are so many factors to consider, disc space, bandwidth, reliability, I could list them all but I know one that’s is probably the most important, is my website safe and will I get good customer service?

I spent days looking for a good shared hosting package, compare different companies, using different search engines, consider costs etc.

I decided to begin with too use UK2 (www.uk2.co.uk)

I signed up too one of their shared hosting accounts, it was cheap, and most importantly came with all the features I required such as PHP, SQL databases, lots of e-mail accounts and sub domains. I then did the rather usual thing of contacting customer support regarding one of the simplest requests, “When’s my domain active” I then waited 72, yes 72, hours, good job I am actual an experienced Linux web server guru, and for many years had my own servers and hosting company.

The support I received was shocking and I constantly experienced downtime, this was crap, my customers required 24-7 contact with me via e-mail on a custom domain.

After much more googleing I found GeekSrv (www.GeekSrv.net), I have been happy ever since, the staff is more than happy to move my account about, add extra features when required, remove them when needed, there a real good company and have a great high-speed server setup.

So if your looking for affordable and reliable hosting do some research first, having signed up too one of UK2’s plans and being stuck with them, I later goggled then to find loads of bad reviews, if I had seen them I wouldn’t of bothered signing up too them.
