File Sharing

ISP’s in India driving people crazy!

Torrent sites have been blocked in India by most of the ISP’s. This might be the the most awful thing that might have happened in a internet savvy’s life. In addition to torrent  and file sharing sites such as Vimeo,Socialism, Dailymotion were blocked too. The step was taken to stop piracy but what these sites are legitimate and have user generated content.

The Pirate Bay,iso-hunt and Torrentz are torrent indexing sites. They do not host movies, music or TV shows. A torrent is considered to be a small indexing file which contains a small code which enables peer to peer downloads. To download files using torrents we need a torrent client software such as BitTorrent, Vuze or utorrent.Once a file is uploaded it is chopped off into pieces and the torrent file has a tracker code which can pull up these bits back using the client software.

Normally when we download something, a file is hosted on a server and one can download via internet protocols at a steady download speed whereas torrents work a bit differently. When a file is downloaded via torrent client software we are actually uploading the file bit by bit which is known as seeding. This helps to reduce the load on bandwidth and in turns helps to download larger files. The speed of uploading depends upon the number of users uploading a file.

When things worsen up this particular link might seem to reduce the agony: http://notechheadaches.blogspot.in/2012/05/how-to-access-torrent-sites-in-india.html

What the ISP’s are doing is absolutely laughable. They have blocked the access to torrent sites but this could be easily done via proxy server. Those nuts cannot stop us from torrenting. Way to go!!!
