This is an article explaining how someone should avoid downloading viruses through music, video, documents and images from Limewire. Read and learn!
It is common to download files from Limewire that contain viruses which have the potential for severely destroying your computer and your life.
These viruses can steal credit card details and other personal information such as passwords from other websites. If I were you then I would stay alert with everything that I download.
Viruses in downloaded files are personally inserted to share with other people and steal their information. The only problem is that we don’t know who the user is. If we were to know the user, we wouldn’t download any of their files ever again. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case of how Limewire works. Maybe they should add this feature in the future.
- Scan the file before opening! After you download a file, do not open it immediately! You could be a little bit too excited but you will have to wait till you have scanned the file for any viruses. Always remember to update your internet security program to ensure that you have downloaded all updates for the latest viruses that are roaming around for destruction.
- Be careful with what you download. Be aware that you know what type of file you are downloading. Remember that every time you download a file without checking wisely is risking your computers life. It would be easier if you look carefully at the details of the file to see if you suspect a virus or not. For example: a game will take a lot of space in your computer to play. Usually, the size of a game can be well over the MB’s. During our present generation, games are now reaching over the GB’s. But there is a possibility of finding a game with lower size. But always remember that a file you see as a game on Limewire can certainly be a virus if the MB’s are just a little too low to believe.
- Music files – the evil copies! Did you know that some files pretend to be music files? I remember a little while ago when I was searching for a few very rare songs. It was hard to find and I nearly gave up until some online users on Yahoo Answers had suggested searching for it with Limewire. I had done so and found some results. However, they were not real songs and as a I downloaded the files into my computer and tried opening them with Windows Media Player, it just wouldn’t open. This was definitely a virus!
- How am I supposed to know that it is a virus? You can scroll your mouse over the title of the song; you should see other details about the song such as album name and the year it was released. If the song has no detail at all, you will know that it is a virus.
