This article shows you how to get around the frustrating error messages received by people trying to send executable (.exe) files.
As an unnecessary security feature, most Web mail providers prevent users from sending executable files through their service. Usually, an error message is received stating the file is not safe.
The simple fix:
Zip the file using a program such as Win-zip or 7zip. I recommend 7zip, which can be downloaded here: http://www.7-zip.org/
All you have to do is zip the file, and send it. The person you emailed it to can simply unzip the file and use the executable file.
Permanent Fix:
You can use a program such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Office Outlook, or Thunderbird to access your email through POP3/IMAP/SMTP. This will allow you to attach whatever you want without it passing through the Web mail’s security features. This is by far the best way of getting around the inability to send executable files, it is also permanent and fast.
