Will a thorough understanding of the communication process help eliminate miscommunication of email information?
Communication Process
Any manner in which information is conveyed can be defined as communication. This conveyance must consist of a “sender” and a “receiver”. Information transported from the sender to the receiver is confined and restricted to a specific thought; therefore, it remains congruent when the sender becomes the receiver and the receiver becomes the sender. All arenas of communication are governed by varying degrees of specific thought and must never be allowed to stray from its specificity in transmission or reception.
Application
Knowledge of the technical intricacies of the communication process is very beneficial because it increases our awareness that effective communication differs in regard to the arena in which it is being used; therefore, our perception of potential barriers to effective communication in all arenas is extremely enhanced. Whether it is information of a personal nature (communicating with family members) or business oriented (downward, upward or horizontal), it is essential that we are aware of its potential barriers. Barriers are the culprits to effective communication in our emails because they infiltrate specific thought, and cause disunity of thought by division. In order to affect harmonious transmission and reception, barriers must be identified, isolated and eliminated.
Enlightenment
It is my personal opinion that thought is alive; it is sustained by as much life as is the individual who is thinking it. Any form of communication, written or otherwise, must begin with a thought; this living entity remains very much alive when it enters the words that we transcribe or utter and even the expressions we may portray. When applied to the process of communication, I think that this knowledge creates an elevation in effective communication.
