Irking Spammers

I have seen an increasing number of spammers on the forums and on articles on the hot content. This is getting quite annoying and moderation should be implemented soon. There are members that would make great moderators in the forums and it has been a topic floating about for a while. Now, if only Triond would implement it…

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but there are two places on Triond where I see a very irritating amount of spammers posting their trojan links and flooding comments on articles. I’d be pretty upset if one of them posts one of their spam comments on this article. A good example of irony at its best.

Forums

I cannot count how many pages of spam or user rants there are about bots trolling the forums. I just checked the forums right now and encountered at least 7 pages of spam by a bot.

For those who don’t look at the forums, they try to sell knock off pairs of air jordan shoes and handbags. When you purchase something, it doesn’t arrive. You waste your time and money. It’s not worth even clicking the site in hopes the spamming will stop. Unless moderation is implemented, or some sort of spam blocker, nothing can be done but taunt them.

Here is an example of a forum troll post, with the websites links censored:

=== **** =====

Air jordan (1-24) shoes $33 ~~~~

Nike Shox (R4,NZ,OZ,TL1,TL2,TL3) $35 ~~~~

Handbags (Coach ,LV ,Fendi ,D&G) $35 ~~~~

Tshirts (Polo ,ED Hardy,Lacoste) $16 ~~~~

Jean (True Religion,ED Hardy,Coogi) $30 ~~~~

New era cap $15 ~~~~

Bikini (Ed hardy,polo) $25 ~~~~

=== **** =====

At a first glance you think you can just ignore it every once in a while. Unfortunately its not that easy. Every single topic and page has at least one free ad on it. So irking that people have posted rant pages just for them. I admit that I have posted a topic specifically for a well-known spammer, ‘Zhang’ a few months ago.

Articles

What’s even more annoying is for the Trionder that returns comments. I’ve seen tonyleather’s comment box (an extremely talented writer, by the way!) spammed a whole page which probably ticked him off alot. You have to scan through pages of spam in order to find legitimate comments to return. Fortunately only one comment was spammed on an article I consider popular by me, which was easily removed.

I really hope that Triond will one day, after cleaning the site up of stolen and poor quality articles, will implement a moderation system and spam blocker tool onto the website. This problem is only growing and the more we let it be, the more spammers will program their bots onto this site.

The Only Way We Can Do Something…

Is to give the spammers a taste of their own medicine. Sign their e-mails up for newsletters that frequently spam their in boxes. The more people we can get to contribute, the more they’ll have a chance to wise up. If you have some spare time it gives a bit of humor.

    Call them spammers out my friend. Triond needs to get them spammers off the forum.

    I stay away from the forum. Most people there are not here to write. They are only looking to make money the easy way. At least we have the delete button.

    Unfortunately this is an Achilles heel of the social networking world!

    People can remove spam on their pages, and at one time Triond did have moderators for the forum, it lasted 2 days but certain forum members complained.

    I remember ranting to you about how I hate spam messages on my articles! I agree fully.

    What a great idea! I used to go to the forum, but I stopped because of all of the spamming. Hopefully there will be an end to it soon. Thanks for sharing.
