E-mail

Gmail offers a number of special functions to make life easier for those USA e-mail. Some concepts already used by other programs have been updated and customized by the Gmail team, making it one of the best tools for e-mail available on the Internet.

View Conversation

The main innovation of this service, the other front is the method with which the e-mails received are organized, called the Google of “Conversation View.” This method is to display all messages related to a particular subject in a single window, in a staggered manner, that is, a message is “above” the other, according to the chronological order of submission.

Markers (Labels)

With the concept of “search, do not sort.” In Gmail you do not need to create folders to organize your messages. Simply “paste” a label in the message. This concept allows a more elaborate, since a message can have multiple labels. This would only be possible with folders if you keep a copy of the message in each folder. Each message can receive more than one label.

Virtual Disk

Given the large storage space, and space allowed for attachments (20MB per message), there are tools (such as GMail Drive for Windows, Linux gmailfs or the GDisk for Mac OS X) that allow using the service account as if it were a virtual disk. These resources, in the case of a service “alternative” may stop working unexpectedly.

There is also an extension for the Mozilla Firefox browser that can handle Gmail as a virtual disk (even on Linux). It can be found at: https:/ /addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1593/ To use this extension read the page of instructions.

This practice is however breach, as the goggle does not allow any file that is stored on their servers, and the program stores the file as an attachment in messages. Several accounts have been blocked due to this practice (lack quote about).
