When gmail email crashes, it is lights out for most of us. Temporarily at least.
I use gmail.com. I use it a lot. In fact I have about five or six gmail.com email addresses, three of which I use very actively. Then the unexpected and unthinkable happens. Gmail mail servers go down, and the world panics. In fact it was one of the most asked questions, “Is gmail down?”, over nearly all the social networking sites the world over. The answer at the time it was down was a resounding Yes! Then some awkward silence…

Lights out for Google’s gmail
In such an instance I guess the best thing to do is to have alternate email addresses. You should have a yahoo and msn address as well. Thus, if the giant falls once more, the other two can save you.
True be told I wasn’t that affected even with my active use of three gmail addresses. This is because I didn’t have any pending work, or urgent email to reply to. But if that would have been the case, I would have panicked too, especially if I were on a deadline, and had to submit something essential to the survival of my career.
Thankfully, none of that needed to be done. I can understand and pity those who had to bear with the stress of being unable to connect to gmail. I know I would have felt the same, if not worse, when put in the same situation.
What to do to if it happens again, pray to the google Gods for salvation…
Or simply get alternative emails.
