Cyber World, Crime and Hidden Identity?

The parallel worlds of reality and virtual, is more real than one can imagine. But, when there is good, there is bad.

Studies would show that children have a more creative, wilder imagination compared to adults. That our creativity to imagination slowly dies out when we face and experience the real world. However, the creativity of those who created the internet, and the virtual world has created a whole new universe for everyone.

To some, the internet is just a tool or source of information, some hate the internet, while others think of it as the future. Though no longer is it the future, but the present, and it will and is already evolving to something so big, it has become complicated.

To make it easier to understand, look at the internet/virtual world as a parallel world to the real world. If one could enter the virtual world physically. It would be a world, completely created by humans. The internet world, where real and false information can be found, is not any safer than the real world. Cyber bully and harrassments do occur, and because the ‘internet police’ are not yet found globally, there isn’t very much anyone or any parent can do in order to prevent or punish internet bullies. Though there are steps that can be taken to prevent as much as possible, using the IP address (internet address/ID) tracking of every internet connection. However, like criminals, there are also internet hackers, who are able to clone or use other or illegal IP address to get what they want, be it fraud or cheating, to get away with the e-crime.

Although the internet is based mainly on texts, videos and images, and the fact that videos and images can be manipulated, while written words can be hurtful, people are still being scammed and bullied in the virtual world. Some would however, fight these crimes, fire with fire, while some choose to ignore it because of the vulnerability they feel. The internet has become another world of high rate crimes, illegal usage, source of blackmail and spam mail.

Having said all that, the internet isn’t all bad. Because what is good comes with bad, and what is bad will also have its benefits. The internet has helped many people with not just useful information, but also with instant communication in just a click of a button. Snail mail is no longer needed to send and receive mails, emails, instant messaging and video/wecam conversations are a quick and almost instant way of communication and conversations, that even text messaging or phone calls are the second option of contacting someone.

The internet has made humans, social but anti-social at the same time. Where a person is able to speak and relate their thoughts online, but are not able to communicate to others physically and in person. Because the virtual world is a world which gives the opportunity to do and be anyone, including lying about who you really are, and as humans, this is taken full advantage of. Being annoymous, or someone you are not online happens alot. Hiding one’s identity by creating a user name and not having to use a person’s real name also occurs.

The virtual world is not perfect, but then again, nothing in this world is perfect. Precautions need to be taken no matter where and what we do. While the internet is no different, precaution of not revealing too much secrets or information online should also be taken. Remember that what ever goes online, stays online, even if it has been deleted after. The internet works in wonderous ways, but too much ‘wonderful’ can be a person’s downfall. What ever goes online, stays online.
