If Windows Fails to Load with Error 15 then-

1. Boot Windows in Safe Mode

2. Physically Check All the Cables

3. Disable Booting of your CD ROM and USB Disk Drive

4. Repair the Master Boot Record (MBR)

5. Scan and Repair Errors

6. Format and Reinstall the OS

If DirectX SDK shows Error 15 then-

7. Remove Visual C++ and Reinstall DirectX SDK

8. Fix Checksum Integrity Verifier

If Google Chrome shows Error 15 then-

9. Clear Google Chrome Cache & Web History

Boot Windows in Safe Mode

When a computer is booted in Safe Mode only few drivers and programs get loaded. This prevents failing drivers sand applications to launch at the startup and thereby diagnoses the problem temporarily. To fix error code 15, try booting into safe mode, and if it works then simply disable failing startup entries.

1. Turn on your computer.

2. Repeatedly press F8 key for a few times.

3. Select Safe Mode with Networking option, press ENTER.

4. If the computer starts fine then click Start | Run.

5. Type MSCONFIG in the Open box.

6. Disable all startups and services and apply the new changes.

 

Physically Check All the Cables

Check all the internal cabling. Probably the cables of your hard disk can be loose and thus your computer is failing to load the OS boot files. Please check all the internal cabling and if needed replace some cables.

Disable Booting of your CD ROM and USB Disk Drive

Check your boot settings properly. There is a possibility that your CD Drive or USB Drive is set to be a boot device. Set First Boot Device as your hard disk and disable Second and Third Boot Devices. Save your settings and exit.

Repair the Master Boot Record (MBR)

Boot your computer with the Windows installation disc and repair the installation. Here’s how:

1. Insert Windows 7/ Vista installation disc.

2. Repeatedly press F2 key, set your disc drive as the First Boot Device and Hard Disk as the second one.

3. Save the settings and exit.

4. When you get message Press any key to boot from CD.. then hit ENTER.

5. Let the setup program load its own.

6. Click Repair your computer label.

7. Select the first option, select your operating system (say Windows 7) and click Next.

8. Click Command Prompt.

9. Type the following command:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

10. Let the setup program repair your Master Boot Record (MBR). This will solve error code 15.

Scan and Repair Errors

Your registry could be corrupted. Scan it with a good Registry Cleaner software and then repair it. Restart the computer when you’re done.

Format and Reinstall the OS

If you still experience error 15 in your PC then format and reinstall your operating system. This might solve your problem and you’ll be able to load your operating system properly. Do not format the partitions which contain your important data.

Remove Visual C++ and Reinstall DirectX SDK (For Fatal DirectX Error Code 15)

DirectX SDK is a software that installs DirectX for the reproduction & development of 3D graphic applications on a computer. Some users have reported that they get error 15 with DirectX SDK. In such cases, the error can be fixed by removing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package and then reinstalling Microsoft DirectX SDK. To do so, follow these instructions:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs | Accessories.

2. Right click Command Prompt, select Run as Administrator.

3. Type the following commands one by one:

MSIEXEC.EXE /PASSIVE /X{F0C3E5D1-1ADE-321E-8167-68EF0DE699A5}

MSIEXEC.EXE /PASSIVE /X{1D8E6291-B0D5-35EC-8441-6616F567A0F7}

EXIT

4. Now go to Microsoft DirectX SDK official website to download and install latest version of it.

5. Lastly download and reinstall the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++.

Fix Checksum Integrity Verifier (For DirectX SDK Error 15)

The Checksum Integrity Verifier tool is designed to verify if you have an uncorrupted copy of Microsoft DirectX SDK. Validate it as under:

1. Repeat Steps 1-2 from the “Remove Visual C++ and Reinstall DirectX” paragraph to run Command Prompt as an administrator.

3. Type the following command:

fciv -sha1 dxsdk_jun10.exe

EXIT

This shall fix fatal DirectX error code 15.

Note: Replace jun10 with the actual version of DirectX SDK installed on your computer.

Clear Google Chrome Cache & Web History (Error 15 Chrome)

In case Google Chrome is repeatedly showing you error 15 then reset Chrome to its default settings and configurations. Here are the steps to do so:

1. Open Chrome. Click Wrench | Settings.

2. Under Privacy, click Clear Browsing Data and delete your web history & cache contents.

Alternatively, use a System Cleaner application to fix error 15 Chrome.
