Browsers

Firefox add-ons everyone should consider adding to their inventory for enhanced browsing experience and productivity.

  1. The Firefox Advantage

The best thing about Firefox is that you can make it your own with all of the extremely useful extensions.  I scoured a great deal of all of the available add-ons and this article will list the ones that I think you should take a look at adding to your own personal Firefox browser to enhance your browsing experience.

  2. Autopager

With this add-on you can forget about having to click that pesky next button that so many sites seem to have lately. If you’re anything like me, sometimes you get lazy when you get to the end of a page and when you have to click next and just stop reading the article right there, it’s amazing some of the goodies you find on that mysterious “next” page.

  3. CoolPreviews

Get a screen preview of a page without need of clicking the link.  Excellent for Google searches and RSS reading.

  4. Google Reader Notifier

Speaking of RSS feeds, if you’re addicted to them like me, Google Reader is excellent and with this extension, you’ll always be up to date on when new RSS feeds are in and you can access your Reader with a quick click of the button and it will open a new tab in your browers. Fantastic.

  5. Tab Sidebar/Fox Tab

For managing your tabs on your browser, you can’t go wrong with one of these two extensions.  If you have some extra screen room to spare, Tab Sidebar is the way to go. It’s a sidebar that contains small previews of all of your open tabs.  Fox Tab, well you should download it just to check out the cool way of sliding through the tabs.

  6. Xmarks

Awesome for google search, can’t live without it now.  It keeps track of and lets you know what sites most people bookmark in regards to your search, clicking on it while visiting a site also gives suggestions of other similar sites that people have found useful. A must.

  7. Personas For Firefox

A lot of cool skins to keep your browser from going stale, a lot of fun to play around with.

After finding and using these add-ons, I can’t go back to IE anymore.  I hope you found something in this list that you didn’t have before that proves helpful to you.  Leave me a comment, let me know what your opinions are and fill me in on some cool extensions I’m missing out on

StumbleUpon is also a very cool extension, not so much in the sense of productivity, but more so along the lines of wasting countless time browsing some awesome sites you might not have come across before.

I like CustomizeGoogle – it’s great for taking ads out of Google apps. And I use Flashblock so I can choose whether or not to view a flash bit on a page. I use Smart Bookmarks Bar and Toolbar Buttons to customize my toolbars. Tab Mix Plus allows me to have 3 rows of tabs open – good for big searches. To help in searches, I use Surf Canyon – it brings results up from later result pages and has helped me find great information. I rely on WOT (Web of Trust) to tell me if a site is safe.
As you said, I could never go back to IE – I’m lost when my husband needs help!

That Surf Canyon sounds like a really good find, I think I’m definitely gonna have to give that a try.
