Advantages: Tabbing, search/address car, speed
Disadvantages: None
For those of you still using Internet Explorer 7 or 8- wake up, there is a world of better browsers out there! Firefox was the first big contender, then Apple made safari more mainstream, but now, we have a truly brilliant internet browser- Google Chrome.
The Good:
Chrome is simple, far simpler than any other browser on the market, at the most minimalist approach you can have just an address bar and a tab bar- leaving plenty of room for the web pages. Compared to the cluttered IE7, this is a breath of fresh air.
The address bar at the top is very multi-functional, it is a normal address bar, but it also holds Google searches, Google suggest and searches of your history.
Downloads use a better system than IE and Firefox, you specify a downloads folder, a when required, a download bar appears at the bottom showing all progressions (this can also be hidden).
A thin bookmarks bar can be added to the top for quick access to your favourite sites.
Tabbing is one of the best features of Chrome. Each tab uses its own process individually; this has several advantages- the main ones being that tabs all work quickly enough (providing you have 1GB+ RAM) and when one tab crashes(this hasn’t actually ever happened), the other tabs will not.
Lastly, Chrome is quick, very quick. I did a few tests and Chrome proved six times as fast (on a YouTube page) than IE8 and twice as fast as Firefox. It’s a joy never having to wait for pages to slowly build up.
The Bad:
I have nothing bad to say about Chrome right now, it is by far the best internet browser I have ever seen.
Summary: Replace IE if you haven’t already
