Why Do You Do It?

Blogging

I am just starting with blogging and found some reasons that people blog, this brought up some questions I can not answer.

I am just starting out in the world of blogs. I am not sure what to write about or how to go about doing it. This is a lot harder then it sounds. I am getting a lot of respect for the people that blog all day and all night.

Why do you do it?

I have been reading blogs that explain why they blog and the enjoyment they get from it if any. One reason I read today that got me into this site in the first place said that he writes blogs to understand himself better. This to him is a form of meditation were he can get his thoughts out and clear his mind. He did could care less if anyone read what he has to say. He feels better about what he is doing.

The second best reason I found was posted by a girl that said that she writes to better her writing skills. To me, this is not such a big deal. (I don’t care so much if my writing is professional or not) But, it is a good reason to do it.

Another reason I found was to get rid of anger. Everyone needs someone to talk to some times but there is not always someone to Liston when you need them or you cant talk to anyone about the problem because you might upset them or something. So, you site down and put it on paper. (in the computer) I do this all the time. But, when I am done I hit the delete button or put the paper in the shredder. I could have been posting my writing the hole time and getting my thoughts out there. I will have to do a lot of editing to get rid of profanity but I could be posting my work.

I also read that one person was trying to get a job in the newspaper. She writes Blogs about events in her town in order have a portfolio. That is a good idea. She is getting her news out there and at the same time if an employer wants to know what she can do they can go right to her page. That’s a good idea.

There was one reason that I read that a lot of people were saying, it seams like the big reason that people blog. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Like I said when I started, I am new to all this. But, is the money worth it? I mean I am going to be doing this with or without the money. But, for the people that do blog on a normal day, is it worth it? If I blog about stuff all month will I be a millionaire or be able to pay my rent…Maybe get a soda at the gas station? I mean what are we talking about, cents or dollars? The second thing I started thinking about is how it works. Do you get paid per visit to your blog or do you get paid for each time someone clicks on a link in the blog? This hole money thing makes no sens to me, but if I can make money for putting my thoughts on paper then what can it hurt.

I have decided that I am going to blog in order to clear my head and the extra benefits of better writing and money will be bonuses. I have problems sleeping and doing homework, so maybe if I write in the morning before  I do my school work I will be able to concentrate and if I clear my mind before bed I might be able to sleep. Gonna try it and see what happens. It is now 6:30 am and I am still not asleep, I have now cleared my head am going to try to sleep.

Please share your reasons for blogging and if you can answerer any of my questions I would love to hear your responses.

My experience with blogging has brought in a very small amount of money and getting traffic is really difficult. I have made more money with Triond and Associated Content than any other sites. However, if you would like to just write you might check out ELance.com, they have people requesting writers everyday and they pay well. Also, you might look into the Mechanical Turk for extra money – best of luck to you!
