I’m not an expert. I’m just a small time blogger trying to make some money online by writing. And I’m sure other bloggers and writers could name other elements; but the four I’m going to name work for me. First let me report on what I’m doing on the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, my personal blog.

I renewed my ownership of the blog for another year. It cost $14.95. I think I’ve also figured out a strategy for blogging every day on the Gazette without using up content for Triond.
My content for my personal blog is at least 100 words. I can come up with 100 words every day. So far I’ve been able to come up with two 100 word commentaries every day. That’s because the content is broken into two parts. The first part deals with the core subjects of blogging, flash fiction and writing. The second part deals with anything I want to babble about. The first part is for my core readers and the second part is for new readers. Both parts bring in readers who click on the links that take them to my Triond content. 100 words are enough to get Google and other search engines to crawl my new content every day. Most importantly, I don’t have to do any research.
In this way my blog does not use content that I need for Triond. Oh, one other thing before I forget. I subscribed to an online magazine that emails me flash fiction to read. I read the stories and comment on them. I don’t just say, nice job or good story. I give a real mini critique. When you leave a comment you get a link above your comment back to your blog. After only five days, these links are paying off. The reach of the Gazette is growing by one link every day. I’m searching for other publications I can do the same thing with. This is part of the Gazette’s marketing strategy. Blogging is my passion and my business.
You can do the same thing, too. Just find one or more publications in your field that allow you to leave a link. You can even do this with your Triond profile.
Now, about those four elements of great content. Whenever I post something on Triond or on my blog I try to make sure that the post contains one or more of these elements: entertainment, insight, inspiration or usefulness.

All good tips as usual, I try to blogg every day but if inspiration leaves me I blogg every other day, so that I dont just pour out waffle and get a bad name and put off potential readers.

Lord Banks, I find I can put something up on the Gazette every day but I can only put something up on Triond every other day or so. Coming up with content for Triond is more difficult.

Well said. I have always been into niche stuff. I even have a Blog which receives over thousand hits a day but makes me only pennies. I know what is wrong with the blog too. It provides full information on the subject that the visitor do not have to check any ads for additional information.
Full of great info. I hope to one day understand more about blogging and getting my name out, so that I may one day accomplish a few of my writing goals, but til then keep writing because each time I walk away with a little bit more info.
