Things to do when you just start a blog.
Even if they aren’t as popular as they use to be, blogs are still a very big part of the internet community and its doubtful they will ever disappear. No matter wha you want to write about, there is probably an audience that you can reach for it, it just depends on you finding a way to reach them.
However, in order to even think of that there are things you have to do first. One of the biggest, and obvious steps, would be to decide where and how you want to do your blog. I know this seems like an obvious thing, however its a very important task and can be a bit of a confusing one. You always hear people talk about wordpress blogs for example, if you are wanting to do a free blog, but that may not be the best option for you. After all, are you wanting to try and make a bit of money from adsense while you are doing the blogs? Then wordpress would not be the blog for you, in fact I am finding the best one would be Google’s blog site which is blogger.com. On this site its easy to apply for google adsense and add it onto your blog giving you a nice opportunity to make a bit of cash. Once you have picked out a blogging site, luckily the process is pretty close to the same no matter what host it is though they all have different templates and options you can use. After that, its pretty easy to get your first post done along with the tags etc for it.
Now that you have a blog with at least one post done though, what should you do? If you want to try and depend on search engines, you’re probably going to be doing quite a few posts before you get any views on your blog which can be rather discouraging. Instead, it would be best to spend at least a day adding your blog to search engines through various sites along with posting it on blog directories as much as you can. I found the best thing to do really is to get your blog out there on the first day, let people know about it through facebook and other social networks you use. Other various sites that are rather good to use is stumbleupon and digg, both can get your blog quite a few views that last. I find that its best to do all of this on the first day though because of the fact the search engines are already working to index you as you add more and more content to your blog, making it easier to get the readers as you post instead of trying to get readers to go and want to read back through your posts. If a reader sees you actively adding posts, they are more likley to stay then if its a blog that hasn’t had a post in a while because you were focusing on getting it out there later on.
As I said before, blogs are a huge part of the internet and probably always will be. So why not take a piece of the internet and make your own blog for people to read.
