Blogging

The list goes on an on about how you can earn money online; but how much can you really earn unless you spend your entire day in front of a computer screen?

One afternoon in April I was watching Oprah on t.v. and there was a lady on there talking about her blog.  At the time I didn’t really even know what a blog was.  Sure I had seen some when I was on the computer, but I really didn’t know what a blog was all about.  Well, I found out that blog is actually short for web log.  Makes sense, I guess, but I really think they could have come up with a catchier name than that.  I mean, it sounds too much like blah..

Anyway, she told Oprah that she made money off her blog without even doing anything at all.  She just placed some ads on there and the money just came rolling in to her.  Of course I was skeptical, but not knowing anything about blogging, I didn’t know if this could be true or not.  I decided to do some research and find out for myself what blogging entailed.

As I’m sure you all know there are hundreds if not thousands of companies out there willing to host your blog.   I eventually signed up with Blogger.com and started a blog of my own.  The reason I chose them is because they are able to place ads on your blog with Google.  Everyone knows Google, so of course I thought that they must be trustworthy.

Then I had to decide what I was going to “blog” about.  At first I just thought of making it a personal site about myself  and my likes and dislikes, hobbies, etc. but as I started writing I decided to start a seperate blog just for my crafts.  My first blog is simply called jedopi and the second is jedopi3bagswool.  Jedopi is mainly about my family, books I read, movies I watch and other  family experiences.  The main topic of jedopi is Fibromyalgia though.  This is something that I have suffered with for the past ten years, so I write about it a lot.

I signed up with Google AdSense and they started putting ads on my blogs.  Wow, that lady on Oprah was right.  The money really did start to come in.  Other people clicked on the ads and I made the money.  How simple was that?  I couldn’t believe my luck.  I actually thought that I had come up with a great idea until one day when Google decided to cancel my AdSense account.  I don’t even know why.  I appealed their decision but they still turned me down.  I was up to $22.00 and then they just took it all away.  I should have known that it was too good to be true.

I started a new blog called Veg on the Web thinking that maybe a different type of blog would bring in more viewers.  It does get more views than the other two right now but still not enough money.  Since Google cancelled on me I have signed up with so many other companies hoping to find the right one to make me the same kind of money that I was getting (or almost got) with Google.  So far I haven’t had much luck.  I have placed ads from so many different companies on my blogs, and even though I am getting some traffic it is definitely NOT enough.  In the past two months I’ve only made about $3.00.

I have also tried clicking and watching ads online which only pays one penny per ad, and writing for different companies, such as TriondBukisa and I just started with Squidoo.  But so far of these three, I prefer Triond.  Bukisa is okay but I don’t find it as friendly an atmosphere, and no one ever seems to answer the questions I have emailed them.  Another site that I write for is myLot.  It is totally different than Triond, Bukisa, or Squidoo.  You don’t write articles like this, you just write comments or start discussions on different topics.  I started with them on June 1st and I have made over $1.00 so far.  I know that is basically nothing but I don’t know what else to do.

I really want to find an online job (I can’t go out to work because of my health) that will really help out.  I don’t like leaving everything up to my husband.  He tells me not to worry about it, but I have been home for a VERY long time now and I want to be able to do my part.  I want to feel like I am contributing and not just here to cook and clean the house.  I want a job online that pays well, and I am sure there are many out there like me who are tired of wasting their day clicking away on ads just to make 10 cents!
