My Personal Experience in Making Money From Blogs

Blogging

Personal experiences in earning money from my blogs. What worked and what had not.

Earning money was not my primary purpose when I started blogging but eventually I was lured when I read that one could earn through blogging, so I started to “monetize” my blog expecting to make big money from them.

The following are my personal experiences with the different money making schemes offered online.    I will be mentioning those that worked for me and those that did not.

These are the ventures that had worked for me.

  1. Adsense

After three months of blogging, I added their widgets.  It was a slow earning venue for me. It may be because I did not experiment with the placement of the ads and I opted to display only a few widgets.   I have earned only $32.70 for more than a year; payout is at $ 100.  I would recommend adsense to bloggers who are innovative and willing to tweak their widgets every now and then.  I had “heard” of bloggers earning good money from it.

I retained them because they had ads which were in congruence with my posts.  Perhaps after three years I would be able to have my first pay-out.

      2..MyLot  Forum

This is a site that has given me my first online money through PayPal – $21.42, in less than two months.  It is a good site for me because I get to interact with other people by posting questions and answering their questions too.  It is relatively easy to earn compared to the pay to click sites.  You could earn more depending on how active you are.  You could also enlist referrals from whom you could earn extra cents.

       3. Blogvertise

This site is a reliable and valid good payer.  My payment almost always comes on time.   It’s very rare that payments get delayed.  They payment ranges from $ 5 – $ 20 (for my PR3 blog) depending on the kind of ads for review.   I always get a notice through my email when there are new assignments even if I don’t log in to my account.   There were few times that my reviews got rejected because of a broken link or inappropriate anchor words, but these were easily remedied.

They usually pay reviews 20 days after publication.  I definitely recommend this site for bloggers.

       4. Review me

This site pays me more than blogvertise, from $5 to $ 120.  My blog did not qualify though for those $ 25 and above because my GPR is only 3 and 4.  They also pay more quickly that is, after 7-10 days.   The minimum number of words is only 200, while that of blogvertise is 300 words.

       5. Sponsored Reviews

Just like Review Me, this is also one site that pays more.  They however, get a certain percentage of the review payment.  The payments come on time too.  Like blogvertise and Review Me the blogger is allowed to select or reject which reviews to write about.

I have always rejected reviews for drugs and gambling.

      6. Triond  and Associated Content

This is one source of passive income.  Payment is based on the views you get for each of your articles.  I’m still building my portfolio.  You should however promote your articles so that you’ll increase your earnings.  If you are able to write well then this is a good source of monthly online earnings.  You’ll just have to be patient in promoting and increasing the number of your entries.  Unlike the featured reviews in your blog which could earn for you only once, your articles in these sites would earn for as long as they are there.

Triond requires original articles, while you can post already published articles at Associated Content.

Based on my observation, my articles earned more at Triond.  I have only about 60 articles there but I earned more compared to Associated Content in which I have 151 articles.  The pay-out for both is every month, and is deposited to your PayPal account.

My biggest money earners are Blogvertise and Review me.

These are the sites that I have tried but had stopped using them as I did not find them beneficial:

     1. Performancing ads

At first I was attracted to it because the platform seems to be good and it does not need lots of work.  I realized later however, that it was slowing down my site and I earned so little, so I removed all the ads from my blogs.

      2. Clixandcash

I got tired of clicking and earning pennies.  I was afraid also my PC might be invaded by a virus, from the various sites that I was clicking.

      3. Home earning Forum

This is a forum like MyLot, but it has fewer users, so I decided to concentrate on one forum instead, and I choose MyLot.

      4. Smortys

I joined this site but did not write anything for them, because there were no assignments and I did not like their system.

These are personal views and are based on my actual experiences with these sites.  If you have a different insight, feel free to contribute so we could enlighten and help our newbie bloggers.

Very nice, Virginia! All your experiences are very helpful and I am quite glad you shared!

I make about 2.00 per month with Triond for my 10 or so articles. And that’s just letting them sit there doing their thing. I should really write more to build up the residual income, but first things first… NaNoWriMo!
