Instructions for Twitter. How to add your blog posts to it, and drive traffic to your blog, and your Triond articles.
I just added Twitter to one of my blogs. If you have a Wordpress blog, you can get a plug-in to be able to post on Twitter. My plug-in is called WP to Twitter. If you have version 2.7 on your blog, go to the plug-in section in your admin. panel. Then go to the bottom of your plug-ins. There are two ways to install it. I always go here to look through all the plug-ins. Select the WP to Twitter plug-in and install it. After it installs, you will see an activation link to activate it.
Then, get a Cli.gs account. At the top of the page, you will see a box to put in your blog url. Twitter takes only short url’s, so you have to use this account to be able to post a link to a Twitter post. After registering, you will be given an API key. Save it to your clipboard, (I used the copy and paste method.) You will need it to put into the settings of your Twitter plug-in. It will be found in your settings header in your WP admin. panel. Enter your API key, located at the bottom.
Then, get a Twitter account. Go to Twitter.com and sign up for an account. There is a huge green box on the lower left that I clicked on to sign up. Now you are set up for your blog posts to be put on Twitter.
If you have a blog at Blogger, you can add your posts to Twitter by your feeds off your blog. Go to Cli.gs.comGo to the tools section, and click on Twitterfeed. Follow the instructions to add your feed. Then your posts will be added to Twitter. You can also put your Triond feeds on Twitterfeed, or go to your cli.gs account and create a shortened url to post manually on Twitter.
Learning to Tweet on Twitter
When you don’t have a blog post to post at Twitter, and just want to add a post with a link, go to your cli.gs.com account and enter the url that you want to use in the post. Click the button at the end, and get your url. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see a blue bird. Click on it to “Tweet” it to Twitter. It will take you to Twitter, and you can finish your post.
You can also post from your cell phone to Twitter. You can sign up for it in your settings and you will have to enter your cell phone number in it. With Twitter, you have the ability to have an online community even though you don’t have a blog. You can search out people that you know, or choose to follow new people by reading Tweets. Just follow the links at the top of your sign in page.
If you read a Tweet that you would like to reply to, just hit the arrow key on the right of the Tweet. Then finish your post. A way to reply real quick, is to put [ @Trickyvikki ] for instance on a new post without the brackets.
I hope that these instructions help you. I am new to Twitter myself, and this is how I got started with it.
